It appears to me that there is a market for a cheap supergun for those that don't want a full size cab. Now there are a few here but @retromod this is something you seem to have all the required equipment for.

Have you ever considered this?

Own: Jaguar, Lynx, Dreamcast, Saturn, MegaDrive, MegaCD, 32X, GameGear, PS3, PS, PSP, Wii, GameCube, N64, DS, GBA, GBC, GBP, GB,  Xbox, 3DO, CDi,  WonderSwan, WonderSwan Colour NGPC

To be honest, there's quite a few on the market. The one I have only cost £40, has two neo geo joystick ports, and an rgb scart socket

zapiy

They seem to be hard to find though?

Not really mate. I'll take a look through my bookmarks tomorrow and see if I have the link to where I bought mine.

No as usual it depend on the time required for such solution. As i know there are some nice cheap implementation already.

Try here: https://www.vogatek.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=60.  I have the Mk IV, and it seems cheaper than I remember, although I've had it a few years.  I regularly have it hooked up to my Neo MVS 4 slot or my Hyper Neo 64.  The downside is that you will need a PC power supply, neo geo joypads, and it's not cased.  But for £20, its a steal.

the super gun is finally nothing else than an adapter to the mainboard. The whole video logic is on the mainboard, not the super gun adapter.

What are the power recommendations? I found +5v, +12v and -5v as required, but no ampere numbers.
I'm asking because it matches the Coleco power supply values.

Not sure on amps, it just states an atx PSU or arcade power supply. The neo board uses 5v and 12v, but there is a mod you can do to remove the need for 12v

zapiy

Does that matter the board will only draw what it needs and if it goes short it will blow the onboard fuse protection?

You're better off just using the atx PSU, as you'd need to solder a connector to your jamma PCB to use any other PSU.

I would not do that. If you know the specs it is easy to install a power supply which is able to work forever. If you always operate at it's limits then power supply immediately die after a while. Last time I installed a graphic card in my very old opteron PC. It have not worked due to firmware issues with the gfx card. So I removed the card after some tests. on the next day the PC was dead. The $150 power supply operated on it's limited due to the power requirement of the gfx card and all capacitors were blown up! That only happens if you stress power supplies outside or near their specs. On the other side a PC power supply is waste of energy. A harddrive powersupply with 5V/12V might be sufficient anyway and much smaller, cheaper.

Its been a few years since I bought one - let me see if I can dig out the contact I Boughy from, as I didn't deal directly with vogatek, just a guy who seems to be in contact with the manufacturer.
