I saw this posted over in AA and thought I'd share it here.  I'm curious about what everyone thinks.

Robert Tweedy has started an Indiegogo campaign to creat a modular 5200 controller.  A picture of the controller is below.  You can find details here:  Advanced Modular Atari 5200 Controller Project.

That is pretty crazy!

Might end up even bigger than the 5200 itself and that is saying something!

TrekMD

Maybe so!  But being modular you don't have to have the whole thing plugged together to use it.  He is asking for feedback on the design also.  :)

WHAT ABOUT THE ACTUAL TRAKBALL they made...

The TRAKBALL ATARI makes is as big at the 5200????

WHOA...

Have you tried to use the controller to play KABOOM.. No way
to do it... I think I will ask if maybe he can add a PADDLE to the
modular design.. But being just a POT, could it be cheap, like about 20.00$

Shadowrunner

Cool idea but unless I'm reading the campaign page wrong you have to pledge for each module separately bringing the cost for the complete controller up to $175.00! I don't own a 5200 but even if I did I wouldn't pay that much, not sure how many people would.

Great idea, looks kinda cool also but if that costing is correct then it could suffer.

Something like this for the 2600 & 7800 would be good too!

I would switch the joystick and trackball around. Other then that, it looks good.

TrekMD

Because of some feedback he was given, he has taken this down and will rework the project a little and create a prototype to have to show.  I'll have to keep an eye on this to see what happens.

It really looks good, so I hope he continues.

TrekMD

It does seem like he will.  I think he didn't make it clear enough as to what he had already accomplished and what the exact purpose of the project was.  He should have something to show soon, we can hope.

I would buy it if the proposed price weren't so high. Price point below $100 seems more reasonable to my budget.
