When you get a motherload of retro gear and your partner spots it and moans lol.. What's the best excuse you have come up with?

Couple of mine.

"My finger slipped on ebay and I purchased the lot by accident."

"Well is worth a lot of money so we will be rich one day."

Your finger slipped?  LOL  I can tell you stories about things "slipping!"

Lol. Those who are single only need to make excuses to themselves.

Oh, my stories about things "slipping" have nothing to do with video games.  They have to do with my profession.   LOL

Two years ago me and the wife were in our local cashconvertors looking at their crud and there was a boxed Starfox Snes console pack priced at £45. I'd just bought a boxed Super Famicom the previous week and she knew I had at least three Pal ones in the loft so we left to goto a coffee shop.

In the coffee shop I started fidgeting and she asked me what was wrong. I told her I was unhappy leaving the boxed Snes for "anyone" to buy and it would be a tragedy to let it fall into the wrong hands. Im happy to say the tragedy was avoided and I got the console before my coffee got cold. The morale of the story is make sure you can do a sad enough expression to con the wife.

Ah, now that explains it!  You support her hobby (which is an expensive one, I'm sure), so she can't really complain much about yours.  :)

Yep that's how it should be. My wife is pretty understanding, more the lack of space but every now and then I need an excuse to lol.

Exactly, a no point my gaming hobby gets anywhere near the cost for hers horses. She knew I loved gaming when I met her (20 Years ago), part of my hobby (Computing and IT) led to employment and now my own IT Business so without my love for 8 bit and 16 bit computers I doubt I would ended up in IT.

I'm with Zapiy on space being a consideration to for the hobby. Lots of my stuff is boxed (but ready to be used) im hoping my new Office finally gets buillt and it gives me a little more space I crave for gaming.

That's some great stuff :D
Only time a purchase has ever affected a relationship was in 2003 when I bought a Jaguar Kiosk on ebay. Wife (at the time) saw how much I bid and was like,
Told her it was a once in a lifetime deal lol

In the end the kiosk stayed and the wife had to go
