Quote from: "Greyfox"I'm sure there will be a lot more that just 3rd party involvement, but I also like the inside story regarding these companies covered in depth.. They had Probe doing stuff for them and I'm very interested in that. I like Probe's stuff. Solomon's Key and MetroCross..

Now a book on Probe I would be interested in . . . .
well we'll agree on that then.. :5:

yes a Probe book..but I already know what book is coming after this one, so I suspect if possible after that.

Update no1

Well we are nearly 6 full days into the campaign and we are just under £1,100 off the £15,000 target amount. Thanks so much for your support :D

I have included a few more perks onto the campaign - the latest perk being 10  x signed BOB WAKELIN posters so please do check out the perks on the campaign. These will be a first come first served as I only have the 10.

I have been speaking with Geoff Brown on Skype who has started to enlighten me with the history of US Gold. I also chatted with Danielle Woodyatt today an will be meeting up with her in a couple of weeks time - she was in charge of marketing at US Gold and now runs LunchPR in Stratford Upon Avon. Danielle will be running some press releases on the Kickstarter and the book over the next couple of weeks so please watch out for those.

Thanks again so much for your early support and please do spread the word - the next challenge are the stretch goals,

By the way, if you would like a copy of the Ocean book outside of the campaign, you can order a copy here:  http://www.revivalretroevents.com/index ... ival-books
Cheers,

Chris

Update...

QuoteHi there,

A lot of work has now been done on the book and I feel it is on the last stretch.

The history of the company comes in at just under 30K words and is all formatted - Roger Kean has done an awesome job of pulling the timeline together and knitting the history of this massive company. Those talked to in this section include Geoff Brown, Martyn Savage, Tony O'Connell, Simon Hadlington, Charles Cecil and Tim Chaney.

Martyn Carrol has written an article on F. D Thorpe and the pages are littered with his great loading screens for the Spectrum and just the one for the Amstrad.

The book then has a section on Probe, Sentient Software and Tiertex - the Probe memoir has been written by Fergus McGovern, the Sentient by Tony Fagelman (one of 3 directors) and the Tiertex one by Donald Campbell (joint owner of the company).

We then go into the memoirs - there will be 25 in total and 19 have already been done.

Those done are the following:

David Anderson - Beach Head, Raid Over Moscow, Tapper, Fung-Fu Master on the ZX Spectrum
Chuck Sommerville - The Games series at Epyx for the Commodore 64
Archer Maclean - Dropzone on the Commodore 64 and Atari 800
Bill Hogue - Bounty Bob Strikes Back! on the Commodore 64
Dennis Caswell - Impossible Mission on the Commodore 64
Mick West - UN Squadron on the Atari ST and Commodore Amiga
John Ludin - Goonies game designer
Anthony Ball - Merc for the Atari ST and Amiga
Tim O'Connell - FD of Centresoft
Ian Morrison - Outrun, Beach Head, Out Run Europa for the ZX Spectrum
Alan Tomkins - Graphics on Outrun, Turbo Outrun on the ST and Amiga
Darren White - Outrun Euope on the Spectrum and Sega Master System
Bob Malin - SSI Product manager - lots of D&D games
Chris Pink - Leaderboard on the ZX Spectrum
Paul Gill - Indiana Jones and Last Crusade for the Commodore 64, US World Cup for the SNES
Tony Porter - Gauntlet 1 and 2 for the Spectrum and Amstrad CPC.
David Looker - Super Cylce for the Amstrad CPC and Roadblasters for the Spectrum and Amstrad
Matt Furniss - music for Outrun Europa, Incredible Hulk and Gunship
Peter Johnson - Beach Head, Crystal Castles and Impossible Mission for the BBC and Electron
I am waiting for another 9 memoirs to come in. The next 6 will be slotted into the book making it 236 pages in size.

The book will then be ready to be proof read and I am hoping to get it to the printers in 4-6 weeks time. Then it will take 2-3 weeks to come back - so at a guess the book will be sent out to you early to mid August.

Looking forward to hearing what you think of the book - not long to go now.

Cheers,

Chris

P.S. I am considering ordering a small number of hardback version depending on cost. I am also looking to get presentation boxes made for the book with the US Gold logo printed on the top - these will be on sale on the site after the books are back.

P.P.S I am planning a C64 Kickstarter which will start around the beginning of August. I will let you know more closer to the time.
