Yep, that's pretty much it.

For me - platformers. Always loved them, as awful as I can be from them. I guess it's partly from me being so many when I was young, since I grew up with a SNES. From Sonic & Mario, (Yeah, I said it. I'm a loose cannon, I don't play by the rules!) to obscure gems like The Adventures of Lomax. I've even learned to appreciate the ah, more infamous ones like Aero the Acrobat. 2D, 3D, it's all good. Only kind of platformer I really can't stand are the ultra-hard faux 8-bit ones that are popping up all the internet. Yes, indie developers, Mega Man was a thing that existed. We KNOW.

Second after that is fighting games. Again, I tend to be pretty awful with them. Nowhere near good enough to a "professional" at them, anyway. And yet I keep coming back again and again, finding enjoyment in polished efforts like Darkstalkers to the sheer insaner-y of Killer Instinct. Never could get into the older stuff like IK+ or Barbarian, though.

You know what I was thinking about this last night!

My favourite genre has always been scrolling beat 'em ups and it always will be. Streets Of Rage 2 is my favourite game of all time and I just never get bored of playing them. Coming up behind them would be racing games and puzzle games probably. I do like shoot 'em ups too and some of my favourite games are from this genre but the category is very broad and there are loads that just don't float my boat.

But on modern machines you don't get beat 'em ups any more really so it's probably racing games for modern systems. Now I own a modern console in the Wii I have found the racing games are just superb and have definitely benefited from advancements in technology.

If your talking retro-games then it was always your classic side scrolling Beat em Ups or Platformers for me, and Shoot em Ups aswell. Basically games that scroll side ways..... and sometimes vertically aswell.  :65:

In terms of modern games, then im more of a fan of open world, action shooter/RPGs such as Borderlands, Fallout or Dead Rising.

I have three types that I like the most: space shooters (both vertical and horizontal), platformers (a la, Donkey Kong, Burger Time), and maze games (a la Pac-Man).

Going to the final frontier, gaming...
