Announcements and Feedback / Forum ranks
May 05, 2018, 14:04:47 PM
Maybe change up the ranks like this:
0 = Non-Gamer
1 = Casual Gamer
25 = Aspiring Gamer
100 = Intermediate Gamer
250 = Well Known Gamer
500 = Professional Gamer
1000 = Champion Gamer

The default SMF ranks are boring lol, post count based titles like this would work well here :)

I own a v14 slim SCPH-75003 which I bought off gumtree. Don't get a fat model, unless you know how replace the laser since they die quicker than v14 slim (my SCPH-39003 only plays DVD based PS2 games (80% of PS2 games, most early games in 2000-2002 were CD based), it is on its last legs basically so I gave it to my 6 yrs old sister). v12 slim SCPH-70003 are also a death trap, I own one with a dead laser.

Plus like I mentioned already before, using RetroArch on a PS3 does the job very well, and you have ALL their games.

Not to derail the thread but can you point me to where more info on setting this up might be? Would love to have this on PS3 as I don't use it for a lot at the moment.
Sounds pretty awesome to access all their stuff on it 8)
Has to be a modded console, you have to have a system that has had 3.56 support so basically anything up to a fairly early slim I think

I've already got a good impression. One of the mods is 17, meaning the staff/users don't discriminate on age, and that response alone is a good thing, I tend to post in old threads instead of making a duplicate ^^

Old thread but look for the DualShock SCPH-110 - the ones shipped with the PSOne slim. The somewhat stiffer analogue sticks actually make it the best Sony controller I've ever used.

Sony Chat / Re: How I Got My PS1
May 04, 2018, 13:31:23 PM
I got my PSOne (SCPH-102) with an LCD screen attachment (the original, official PAL one) for a fiver at the bootfair some years ago and it still works. Greatest bargain ever given the official PAL screen isn't too easy to find apparently (according from my dad).

Introductions / Heya~

Heya~
I'm 16, British and really interested in gaming and such from the 80s-early 2000s. :)

Found this place through google, looking for an alternative place to the retrogamer magazine forum which kinda looks ugly although it has its merits too ^^

Though I don't really have a big interest in home computers from the 80s like my dad I'm more into consoles of the time :P

Sorry for the short intro, but I hope you and me have a nice time here ^^

FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO LIKES WINDOWS ME!!

I think XP has too many troubles for old (1990s) games and emulators. ME is really good for retro gaming as it supports more RAM officially (1GB) and works pretty seamlessly with 98SE drivers, though it's best to find drivers and hardware that were properly written for ME because 98SE drivers might have small problems. Generic USB drivers for USB 1.x are useful too, which aren't in 98SE, though are portable.

The removal of real-mode DOS isn't that it removed, it was actually just hidden, if you have a WinME boot floppy it is possible to restore it IIRC at the cost of boot times slowed down.

Well I found in the PAL version of SMB1 you can clip through the floor before knowing it was a known bug on the internet :p

I was about 10 at the time, yes internet was around but bleh, i didn't have much access then

Just wondering, is there any plan to add tapatalk? I've seen it work and actually once set it up on smf, it's nice for when there's not a responsive design or mobile mode.

They have a lot of pathetic actions, it's one of the reasons I completely avoid their modern products (post-2005) because they have this ridiculously antiquated attitude to things like this.
