Winter Olympics for GameGear arrived today.  Still hoping to get NHL, just not at the £20 price I've seen.

I have actually been mostly playing Pro Evolution Soccer 1-6 on the PS2, i.e. the golden era of the series. ^^ Not sure what you think of that, though. I was only a preschooler when the PS2 was around, since I was born in 2001.

Might play a bit more Mario World and try to complete Forest of Illusion later when I get home from school.

Are you playing on an actual PS2?  If so, how did you happen to buying one?  I'd love to play all games on physical systems but I just haven't the room to store anything  :-\.

I can't remember which football game it was, it could have been one of the This Is Football series.  I used to play that game a lot as it used to feature a mode where you used to play in a school playground and you used coat / jumpers for the goal posts.

Hello and welcome!

One of the mods is 17, meaning the staff/users don't discriminate on age
I'm assuming you're referring to me :)

Welcome to RVG!  We're glad to have you here and it's always nice to see new members that are close to my age.

Didn't even realise this, that's pretty amazing!  I love the fact that these old systems are being enjoyed by all generations.  Do your friends also like the same stuff or do they not know what you're talking about?

Sony Chat / Re: Best Controllers for Sony Playstations?

Official controllers for me.  I remember when we only ever had the original controllers for the PSOne, we knew someone down the road who had I believe Ape Escape and a controller with the vibration/anologs.  He brought it up to our house one time and I just remember it feeling weird on first use, not that I'd ever heard of or knew about the game at the time either.

Still need to sit down and have some decent playtime with most of the games but from what I have, I'm really loving Road Rash.

The background is my duvet cover. Colourful and actually pretty nice.

So I'm a GG fan!  Always used on the mains as we never had enough batteries to keep us going.  It was an awesome handheld, even if it was really huge and chunky.  I can't remember whatever happened to the original console we had, it might have broken but my dad was able to buy another on eBay with many more games than what we had!

We didn't have a huge collection at the time, enough to fill a shoebox.  Consisted of a couple of boxed games and the rest was singles.

Two of the main games I used to play was Tazmania and Earnie Els Golf.  I never really understood what I was doing in games at the time but gaming back then was all about just playing them.

Here's a picture of the current collection I have.  I'm also wanting to purchase Winter Olympics and NHL Hockey.

I don't have any preferences, I would like to experience all consoles, even the older ones.  So just any games in general you think everyone should play.  If the game is multiplat, whichever gives the better experience.

I do like games to do with space and I enjoy dogfighting.

Haven't played much 2600 in the last few years save for a few new games that have come out. Let us know how Tapper is 8)

It's pretty good, makes it a little more challenging as you need to collect any glasses thrown back at you.

Also played Missile Command on the Atari 2600 for the first time.  Very enjoyable game!

Thanks guys!

Hello and welcome youngster, seems you still have to cover a lot of ground then ;)

Indeed I do, so if you have any recommendations for me to check out, feel free to let me know! Just give me the game name and which ever console version you are referring to (due to games releasing on multiple platforms) and I'll check them out.

I never played the originals  :-[ guessing I missed out on something special?

Will have to try play through them at some point, although I hear they are re-releasing the game in HD.

Crash Team Racing
In Cold Blood

Atari 2600:

This will be my first venture into the Atari 2600, so looking forward to trying more games out.

Hello, recently started playing retro titles from the past and having a blast!  My names Harold and was born in 1990.  Grew up with the regular consoles of the time; MegaDrive, Saturn, NES, SNES, PSOne, DreamCast, N64 and possibly others I forgot.  Also a lot of handhelds and we used to play the GameGear a lot!  Still have one today that I like to get out and play.
