I was never so much into Atari, whether computers nor consoles. Although my first console was a Philips Videopac G7000 (Magnavox Odyssey 2 in the US), quite similar to an Atari 2600, and I played on that one quite a bit with my cousins, as like you I don't have any sisters or brothers.

Later in school I eventually got my C64, and my best friend had an 800XL, nice machine too. At some point our goal was to port M.U.L.E. from the Atari to the Commodore, a huge project, which of course never came to an end as you can imagine.

When I had my Amiga, another friend of mine had an 1040ST, although we preferred playing on the Amiga, was definitely the better machine for gaming, plus the audio was output to a big Kenwood amp with huge speakers, and we always enjoyed the big explosions in SWIV when you put the volume quite high.

Some years ago, I sold my quite big collection of computers and consoles. Although I don't have kids, and my wife is also quite accommodating I have to say, it was my decision. I'm completely into ROM collecting, have probably every single set of every computer or console, and I like emulating the stuff. I do that already over 25 years, also during the time I still had some stuff set up. I think the whole emulation passion started with MAME 0.32, as I loved and still love arcade games.

Since 1 year, after coming from a HyperSpin setup, I discovered LaunchBox (and BigBox) and that is absolutely awesome. A lot of work, a lot of OCDing through collections, but also a huge amount of fun, LOVE it. I think it's indeed amazing that they bring something like this out, but only for the collector. If I have several handheld consoles which can play all the games I want, why would I need this. Pure nostalgia all the way.

I still have one keychain mini game & watch, friend from work brought it for me when he was in Japan.

But I still have very fond memories playing on those in the early 80s as a kid, that was amazing at that time, and there was nothing else yet, I mean portable.

Still have to do some tests, so far it's working great. I put some different Pinballs to test, Zen Pinball, Pinball Arcade, Zaccaria Pinball, Williams Pinball and Pinball Deluxe. They all work fine, but I didn't have so much time yet to test them further, only was testing if it was working at all.

Got one of those last Friday, the Sharpin Ultra. The only thing I changed were the speakers, as the kit comes with those very cheap Audiogenic cubes, and in some reviews they mention that they don't have any bass at all and thus are not the best. So I ordered some of those Amazon Basics speakers, compared them on the PC, and it's true, they sound 100 times better, so I built them in instead of the Audiogenic.

I had that K.C. Munchkin game for the Philips Videopac G7000 (Magnavox Odyssey 2), and I absolutely loved it, because it had a level editor, so you could build the levels yourself. I still remember that with my cousins we built one level where the ghosts couldn't catch you, and we played the level for hours, obviously not dying and making the hugest score in the history of munchkin

I've also got a 1541 disk emulation device that seems pretty solid loading disk images.

I had a 1541-III floppy, that was absolutely great, unfortunately sold it some time ago, as I sold all of my stuff, I think there's even a picture thread of that here, if I remember right. I would say that the 1541-III is nowadays quite difficult to acquire, and expensive.

I didn't look for anything like that lately, but I guess there's other cheaper solutions out there.
