It's an interesting question to ask most retro gamers. I put my self currently in the emulator category. Mainly due to time and room to actually use my real systems. I guess there are lots of reasons for being in either of this categories or indeed dabbling in a bit of both. That's my ultimate aim for 2012. Dabble in a bit of both,  be interested to read why people put here.

Mortal Kombat -- Tiny 7" tall version[/align:2zwapci6]

I am wowed by people making full sized consoles smaller. This time I am wowed about someone making an already portable game machine massively cooler. Using a GBA SP one clever modder made a Space Invaders cabinet suitable for mice. The cabinet is 7? tall, 3.5? wide and 4.5? deep.

Arcade & Pinball Chat / Worlds first Arcade Machine?
September 28, 2011, 10:59:25 AM
[/align:yjzsfo8a]

Computer Space is touted as the first ever, coin-operated video arcade machine to be commercially sold. Created by Ted Dabny and Nolan Bushnell -- original Atari founders, its gameplay consisted of maneuvering a rocket ship to avoid enemy fire from flying saucers (while firing off missiles to destroy them), using a thruster and rotational buttons -- this type of game would later be known as a multi-directional shooter. If you're score was higher than the computers after each 90-second session, you were rewarded with another round of play.

Galaxian is a classic Space Invaders inspired player vs. Aliens shoot-'em-up, released in 1979.

Its one of my earliest memories of Arcade Gaming, watching my sister playing it whilst i kept trying to bash the button.

Retro News & Chat / Rare Games..
September 26, 2011, 19:40:43 PM
Here is a new feature..

Lets list the rare games out there that are worth more now than at retail.

First up.
[/align:3oq1cqaj]

Panzer Dragoon Saga, for the Sega Saturn.. Considered to be the best RPG ever for a Sega system, Panzer Dragoon Saga tells the story of Edge and a mystical dragon. Attention to detail is great, with game makers even inventing a language solely for the use of the game. Limit print run of 10,000 copies puts this in the Rare category.
