Hi everyone!

Today, a new 1.01 version of the game has been released.

What's new:

- To exit the technician choice screen it is no more necessary to insert a number of technicians, then press "0" to cancel. Just insert "0" and you will be brought back to the previous menu.
- Some slight modifications in the text for both manual and game.
- The Spanish translation has been revised by EquinoxeZX.

Download it as usual from:

Hi everybody, I have been notified of some little inconsistencies in the English version, such as some text being left in Italian, or some lines not completely deleted. These issues have been solved, but anyone interested should download the game again.

Sorry for the inconvenience  :-[

Hi folks,

some time ago I made a "silent update" to V1.02 to correct the "ULA Plus bug", a fault in AGD which caused the game to display false colors under certain configurations, e.g. the ZX Vega. It seems the update interfered with the game ending scenes code, preventing them to be displayed as intended. I fixed the issue, but you should download the package again. The fixed files can be recognized from the 22.01.2020 timestamp.

The problem only affects the .TZX and .TAP files, the TR-DOS disk image files are fine.

Sorry for the inconvenience  :-\

Spectrum Chat / Al's Spectrum Annual 2020
January 22, 2020, 07:44:56 AM
2019 was an exceptional year in terms of both quantity and quality for the Spectrum homebew scene. Wishing to have a say about the titles that impressed me the most, I was going to make a video for my YouTube channel. When the new year came, however, I thought I would have liked to do something different. Something more lasting and detailed than that. Thus I conceived the idea of an annual magazine hosting my views about 25 games that I picked from those released in 2019.

I also wanted to do something a bit wider in scope and asked for an interview to the groups behind El Mundo del Spectrum and Bitmap Soft, which they both kindly accepted. And since I obviously cannot review my own games, I wrote a feature about Sophia II and Ad Lunam, a behind-the-scenes view with facts and insight.

Finally, I added some anticipation about my Spectrum-related projects for 2020.

This is what you will find in Al's Spectrum Annual 2020, a 32-pages A4 PDF magazine for Spectrophiles everywhere, simultaneously published in Italian, English and Spanish. Download it for free from:

Enjoy!

More news!

Feedback for the updated game has been positive so far, but a recurring criticism was that the second chapter was too difficult, with many resilient enemies to shoot down. I modified it so that there are a little less of them flying around, and all of them take 2 shots to be destroyed, except for the blimp and the V-1, which only take one. You can download the new package from the usual address on my website.

This updated version will be available on tape from Bitmap Soft as well.

Hi folks,

the game is still being developed after a pause due to "real" life issues, and I plan to release version 1.0 in the next few weeks. I have been hunting and squashing tons of bugs, further optimizing the code, and fine-tuning several features. Unfortunately, to fit the whole game into the 48K Spectrum, I had to leave any graphics aside, but introduced some beeper blips and short tunes for an even more retro atmosphere.

And here are some screenshots of the Spanish version! Juego y manual en castellano para todos  8)

Superb choice, I played it thoroughly and even wrote a walkthrough for it. Well written and atmospheric despite not having a truckload of locations.

Great!  ;D I can't wait to see the final product!

Homebrew Chat / Doom Pit now freely downloadable
October 12, 2019, 11:03:24 AM

Hi folks,

after making Seto Taisho To Kazan available for free, me and Graham Richards of Monument Microgames agreed to do the same for another game of mine.

Doom Pit, the official sequel to Clive Townsend's Death Pit, may now be downloaded from my website.

This release has been cleansed of the AGD "ULA Plus bug", which caused false colors to be displayed under certain configurations (e.g. the ZX Vega).

Enjoy!

Newsflash: A user reported that when loaded on a 128K and later models, sound might get garbled in Chapter 2. I fixed the issue and tested the level to be sure there were no more. Please download the game again, and sorry for the inconvenience.

I also increased lives in that chapter from 5 to 8 to make it a bit easier.

Hi folks,

Seto Taisho To Kazan, the bonus game included with the physical edition of Seto Taisho Vs Yokai, is now freely downloadable. You can download it from my website (link is almost at the bottom of the page).

Also notice that the "ULA Plus" bug of AGD, which made both games be displayed in false colors under certain configurations (e.g. the ZX Vega), has been fixed.

Enjoy, and stay tuned for more news!

And now... Cousin Horace gets an update!  :)

  • In Chapter 1, you now start with 40 units of health instead of 20, and the medikit gives you 10 units of health instead of 5;
  • Chapter 2 has custom sound effects now;
  • Chapter 3 and 5 have been cleansed of the "ULA Plus bug", a fault in the AGD game designer which caused the game to display false colors under certain configurations, e.g. the ZX Vega;
  • all TZX files (except for the intro) have been customized with the SetoLOAD turbo loader.
The updated game and documentation can be downloaded from my website as usual.

Enjoy!

Version 0.3 is here!

What's new:
  • Choose one out of three difficulty levels at the start. Parameters affected are: funds, prestige, fund multiplier factor, mission control handicap
  • Chance of random events at the end of each turn. Some will need certain prerequisites to happen, e.g. available pilots
  • Italian version now available
  • Various bugfixes and code optimizations
The game is now close to its definitive form. Again, memory left is still very scarce; I guess graphics and sound will be postponed to a prospective 128K version. What is needed now is a lot of fine tuning. This can only be done through playing sessions. Let's see what happens next.
