Homebrew Chat / Kromasphere: YAGAC MD Kickstarter
March 14, 2019, 22:38:06 PM
Hey everyone! I've been working with CMC Games to release their game Kromasphere: YAGAC MD.

Kromasphere is a very fun (and addicting) platforming adventure game where you have to restore the color to the universe.

Check out the Kickstarter for more info and a video: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/seconddimension/kromasphere-yagac-md?ref=project_build#

Almost ready for a public demo :)

Thanks!

One issue I ran into, even with all the code optimization, was slowdown still. I decided to disable the HBlank (which was giving us a 5th palette to use) and viola - slowness be-gone. That means we'll need a new HUD design, but I think we have a new solution that will be in place soon :)

Haha no worries :P

I'm recoding a good chunk of what I already did (fortunately it's not a whole lot), so this next video has some missing features (power-ups, enemy AI, attacks, and collisions) but I did add in collectibles, which is half of what this engine was made for xD

Loving where this is going, who's doing you all the sprites and so on?

Jav from Retro Nerve is doing the artwork, I'm doing the programming, and we're both brainstorming the finer details.

I don't know if I've as you this before but, have you considered doing something like this for the Jaguar?

I think you've asked about the Jaguar before :P I wouldn't rule it out, but I've never played a Jaguar (and don't even own one), so I wouldn't have the foggiest on where to begin.

I haven't had much time in the last few days to do much, but I managed to sneak in a half hour or so tonight. Nothing major, just started the collision routines and added in sprite ordering so the player sprite goes behind the enemy sprites once you reach a certain value higher.

Got some AI implemented :)

Thanks!

Here's a video from late last night: https://youtu.be/utp-aPxh2d4

Better jump routine, changed some of the powers around a bit, added some new animations, etc.

Enjoy :)

Hey everyone!

I'm back with a new game currently undergoing development, currently titled Project Halloweenville.

Here's a sample video: https://youtu.be/n77jaIdidtg

The game is planned to have 6 levels in total, with each level a unique scene, unique enemies, and a different boss for each level.

We're anticipating the game to be at completion near summer time. The progress has been excellent so far as most of the character actions have been programmed, the map engine is nearly 100% finished, and we're working hard on working out the finer details and getting each stage ready to be implemented into the engine.

I hope you like what we're up to!

I did! :P

It's been quite a journey from start to finish, but we made it! I hope those who do get it enjoy it :)

Thanks Trek :)

I started putting everything together over the last few days (title screen, cut scene, awards, and game engine) as I'm nearing the point where I need everything together in the code, as well as doing some polishing. The reason why each section was done in separate files was to get some of those sections done, but I didn't want to keep having to skip past them for testing the game.

Anyway, here's a demo video of the test stages:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3gyT35fLhA

So what's in this demo here?
- The Second Dimension splash screen + logo chime
- The title screen
- A brief snippet of the cut scene
- The game in its near finished form with 5 demo levels + building win screen

A few things to note:
- I didn't want to spoil the cut scene so I skipped past it (it's pretty lengthy, but it's the only one in the game and sets up the story/tone of the game)

- The clock item pauses the timer and is supposed to tick while the background music goes silent. This is being changed.

- Some more polishing is needed

I didn't go through the menu as I had done that previously, and the only new thing done is the Credits screen.

Anywho, I hope you all enjoy the update!

Thanks guys! I did a Limited Edition run for the NES version (regular edition coming in the next few weeks):

I currently have 5 up for auction on NintendoAge, and 5 left over. If anyone here is interested in one of the 5 left overs, they're $150 + shipping, but comes with the game (limited edition artwork), an 18x24" poster, bomb stress ball, knitted Get'em Gary beanie hat/cap, turbo burger gummy, and a 1 page comic, all placed inside of a metal black lunchbox.
