How about Spy vs Spy? I would put the video links in but I'm struggling to tab browse at the mo, when I swap tabs I always get a blank page lol.

For the record I'm liking the SMS version more. It seems that bit more cheerful.

It's probably LTTP for me, it woke me up to the series. That opening sequence, the rain, the music - it was so atmospheric and had me hooked straight away. It was a truly brilliant game.

I loved OOT to, lovely. And I found the sailing in wind waker to be really therapeutic.

As for skyward sword and twilight princess, for me they were ruined by the stupid wiimote, so I never gave them the time they deserved. I never did play Majoras mask.

I'm not sure if already mentioned or not, but what about blue max and blue max 2001...

I thought the top 10 list was shit tbh. Here's mine..

I was going to say the NES version until I watched the BMXing event and for me it let the game down. And overall I prefer the more colourful graphics on the SMS version. But the NES version seems to play a little bit better overall bar the above.

A closely fought draw.

I played both back in the day and think the SNES version spanks the MD one, which is rare as far as sports sims go. I'd say that striker is the exception to the rule in this genre.

Indeed, in the right hands the MD chip could sing. ROS, the SOR games and gauntlet 4 being some excellent examples. But overall I think the SNES chip kicks its arse. Final Fantasy 4(2) Actraiser, Super Star Wars, LTTP, Soul Blazer etc, much stronger line up overall.

I never knew Y's appeared on the NES, let alone twice lol. I was never much of a Zelda fan until LTTP though.

Phantasy Star was and still is a superb game and imo takes this round all on its own. The NES doesn't have an answer to it if you ask me. Then there's Y's, another classic, then Golvellius, Miracle warriors etc.

The brilliance of Mario 3 aside, I dont think this round is as clear cut as some may think. Wonder boy 3 is well, wonderful lol. As are its 2 predecessors, then Sonic, Mickey Mouse, Alex Kidd, Kung Fu Kid etc. The Master system was very strong in this area.

Tough one to call.

I owned both back in the day, my SMD was a crimbo present but I had to work an entire summer holiday to save up for the SNES. I wasn't disappointed, it was a great console. That and the SMD complimented each other perfectly and for me it was better to be in both camps than stick all my eggs in one basket. Both machines had far too much to offer to be ignored. I forgot to mention that I was lucky enough to own the PCE too, another fantastic console and probably my favourite overall.

Great era, great times, great games.

The only answer to that on the NES  (as far as I know) would be gradius. But for me it's a slightly inferior game to R-Type anyway". Plus the SMS conversion of R-Type is a great achievement.

I don't even need to check out the Video. This was one of those rare occasions when the CPC wiped the floor with the competition!
