Commodore Chat / Re: Any C64 Fans?

Here is the 1541-ii that I use from a guy in Hungary in the pic below. It works very well with all d64 files and most prgs. It seems to be more compatible than the SD2IEC interfaces that most people use. I like it so far  :)

I've just bought a C64 breadbin again after years of not having one and will take the time to get acquainted with the early games that I played back then. I've also got a 1541 disk emulation device that seems pretty solid loading disk images. Though testing it out with a game as bad as Cobra probably wasn't a great idea!

The C64 had the best sound chip of any machine of the 80s, including the consoles. It also had the worst colour pallette and a high colour mode that used rectangular pixels which meant you couldn't draw faces on sprites with any detail, stripping a whole layer of personality from games that its British rival the Spectrum had. For shoot em ups though, that didn't matter, because spaceships don't have faces!  When all is said and done, if you want to understand the 8 bit genre, you have to play the Commodore 64, pure and simple.

Very good to see a Lynx game released nowadays :)

That must be the most commonly used phrase on the planet Earth right now: "due to the coronavirus". It really does affect everything when it affects retrogaming 😬

They cost ~$35.  You can check them out here:  https://is.gd/uGIMLu

Interesting🙂

They are very smooth.  No jitter to worry about!

OK you've tempted me- how much do they cost?

What are the Atari pro paddles like? I'd love to get paddles that solved the jitter problem

They had a really good first day but since then there's only been a couple new pledges. They're going to have to really get the word out.

But I do wonder how many people have that kind of money! It's for people with more money than sense. I just couldn't justify spending that kind of cash over a game, but some people obviously do!

Looks light years ahead of the 1979 game, which was fun in its own way too.

The one thing I'm really pleased about with this release is that its a genuine Coleco title and not a super game module cartridge that most people will not be able to play on the original hardware. Now if only they could release the rom... 😁

Similar but no longer available at a reasonable price.  A Harmony cart is much easier to use, though, as you just put an SD card with the games and it's ready.  I believe SainT may have decided to work on one for the system once he's done with his sales for the Jaguar SD cart.

I also seem to remember it had problems playing games like Commando with the added sound chip, but my memory is fuzzy. I should have kept it anyway. The more I read about the 7800, the more interesting it seems, especially with the homebrew that's been coming out these last few years.

Would really like a 7800 version of the Harmony - the 7800 homebrew scene over at atariage is creating some really great titles.

Didn't Chad Schells Cuttle Cart II act like a Harmony cart? It came out many years ago and allowed you to upload all your 7800 and 2600 games onto the cart to be played on a real 7800. And I bloody well had one!! Why on earth did I get rid of it... 😑

Excellent. The colecovision is still making a lot of noise and I'm particularly pleased that games are coming out that still work on the original unexpanded machine like this one :)

Hi - I've tried it again on my laptop and it doesn't seem possible to download. It says "The publisher chose not to allow downloads for this publication"
