Vanishing Point reviews were poor (above) but I really like it.
The controls do take time to acclimatise to but if you persevere, it's a solid racer.

Looks pretty cool too, considering the graphical limitations of the 2600.

Aw come on, really?
The 2600 is capable of far better graphics than this.
(BTW I'm not talking about this game here, in any way. These suit the game perfectly)

Bought from a guy at work. He wanted £15 for them all.
I pointed out that there were two copies of Warlords and the others were fairly common.
So he took £10.
I feel a bit bad. But not much! 

Franchised games and sequels were around long before the Playstation.
It's arrival did mark a change in gaming but it doesn't have to be for the better or worse. Just different.
It was great to be able to play games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, MGS, ISS, Gran Turismo.
Games that just weren't possible before.

ps All the games I mentioned do have "worse" graphics than their modern counterparts but are
still better games. IMO.

It'd be a stretch to say its impact was as big as the NES..

Definitely retro.
Definitely an iconic piece of gaming hardware (though I prefer the redesigned PSOne). THE console of the 90's.
It had a similar effect to that of the Wii in that millions of "non-gamers" bought them.

I am one of those that think it looks like it was designed for young children.

I'm with you there.
It looks more like a design concept that would end up in the bin rather than go into production.
The asymmetric design, the over-sized buttons. The actual colour of the buttons.
The 2-tone joystick. 
The gun is ok though!

I'd pass on it and go for value for money with Super Mario Allstars.

Absolutely, but nobody's ever shelled out for one of these to just play homebrew stuff.

No, it's not emulation but it is a grey area due to putting illegal roms on the flashcart.
Actually it's not even a grey area!

Amazing Ocean Software was not covered in the type of documentary when itself went under.
