RPG Trifecta Pack announced for Windows and Mac OS

The long awaited Windows and Mac OS editions of our three best selling role-playing adventure games for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive are finally here! The RPG Trifecta Pack combines Beggar Prince, Legend of Wukong and Star Odyssey together in one convenient, self-installing package. Formerly console exclusive, all three of these great games can now be played and enjoyed on your home computer for the first time!

These games have been long sold out and go for obscene amounts of money on ebay.
If anybody is looking to play them this is a good alternative.

General Retro Chat / RetroN 5

I'm sure everyone has seen the RetroN 3, it allowed you to play NES, SNES, and Genesis / MegaDrive games. Well they just announced the RetroN 5 and now you can add Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games to the list. I just might get one of these now.

General Retro Chat / 3DO Controller Extension Cable
« on: March 11, 2013, 18:53:54 PM »
I've been looking for one of these for a long long time! I'm actually starting to think it's just a myth that they made these as I'm pretty sure you would have an easier time finding Bigfoot then one of these.
I read somewhere that a FM Towns Marty extension cable would work but finding one of those is equally impossible so I gave up on that idea as well.
Read some more and found out that a MD/Genesis cable would work but because of the size of the moulding you would need to take a knife and trim the plastic a bit to get it to fit. Looked on Ebay and found out that the company that makes those Retron systems also makes brand new controller extension cables so I bought one for 10 bucks and gave it a shot.
I'm happy to report that it works and also because this isn't the official Sega branded one it's a bit smaller and no modification needed. It's a very tight fit but it does fit and works great  :113:

General Retro Chat / CRT or LCD
« on: November 20, 2012, 17:15:50 PM »
I did a search and didn't find any topic about this so hopefully it hasn't been done already.  I used to have all my retro consoles hooked up to an old CRT TV but over the last little while I've been slowly moving most of them to my LCD TV. It started out as a comfort thing as my CRT is in my bedroom with just a chair to sit in and the LCD is in the living room with my big couch to spread out on. I have left the 8 and 16 bit consoles with the CRT as they look like crap on the LCD but everything from the 3DO on has been moved now. I'm using S video for most of them and I have to say from my point of view they actually look better now and  the color is much more vibrant on the LCD. I'm sure there are purists here who will disagree so let's hear it. At what console generation do you switch from CRT to LCD or for the people who don't play modern consoles do you use LCD at all?

Atari Chat / Jaguar Skunk Boards

If anybody is still interested in one of these I see the Goat Store has put the last ones up for sale. They wont be making any more so other then ebay this is your last chance.

They raised the price though to just over $150 a piece. Too pricey for me plus I'm nowhere near competent enough with a computer to use one. lol

Retro News & Chat / Anybody have one of these?

Saw this on another site and thought I should share.
Never seen this before but sure would be cool to have.

Retro News & Chat / What do you consider to be retro?
« on: September 05, 2012, 22:20:31 PM »
I got the idea for this from a comment Laird made about only including the really retro systems in the Battle Of The Bands. Got me wondering what people consider to be retro systems or retro gaming these days.
For me I consider the Dreamcast and anything that came out before it.  The Dreamcast came out in 1999 which makes it the last system to come out in that century and as that's now 13 years ago that seems about right.
That's my opinion anyway, what does everyone else think?

Just wanted to say hello to everyone.
I have been playing games pretty much my whole life starting with the Coleco 2600 knockoff Gemini and most consoles since then.
You guys have a really great site here and I'm looking forward to checking out everything on it. :)
