Retro News & Chat / KA Aircars for the Jaguar
May 18, 2016, 17:22:09 PM
I just saw this on AA, Beta Phase Games have announced they are going to start selling this game again. This isn't a limited run and according to the post they will continue making more copies as long as there is demand. The first run will be ready in about a week and if anyone wants a copy they can send an email to the address in the link below.

Here's the link to AA and here's the link to the Beta Phase Games site.

I just sent an email to get a copy :)

Homebrew Chat / ConnectedNES
May 13, 2016, 18:27:13 PM
Okay, this is just about the coolest thing ever! Some very bright people have created a modem of sorts that can be hooked up to an NES and allow a persons Twitter feed to display on the screen while playing a game.

You can read all about it here and there are videos showing it in action too. Very impressive work!

Retro News & Chat / Luchs Soft Newsletter
April 28, 2016, 23:54:21 PM
Thought I would share this for anyone who is not on the mailing list.

QuoteHi Retrolizers,
A new Vectrex game is on the way!
It's a port of the A2600 Dead Of Knight programmed by
Jason Santuci. The game was published by Starship Films
and the Luchs Soft Vectrex Version is officially licensed.

There's a big difference this time between the older
Vectrex Luchs Soft releases, it doesn't have a Digipak,
it comes in a box!

Because I received much questions for preorders, I've
decided to open it in the Luchs Soft Shop now.

BRECHER, EINEIIG, FLAK and N.E.L.S. will be also re-released
in this box style.

Also I've decided to act as publisher for other coders
releases. It looks like, that there'll come another
Vectrex Game soon!
Stay tuned what's coming up next ;-)

New JagCD is also in dev. hopefully it will soon finished.
To tell the truth, 4 Games are in dev. at the moment for
JagCD ^^
Let's see if I can finish them all this year, press thumbs :-)

For BRENNBALL (Videopac) I'm still waiting for new Cartridges.
If you didn't heard it already, they were getting lost :-(
BUT we're working on it to get it released as soon as possible.
It's not forgotten!

Cheers,
DL

Great news for Vectrex and Jaguar fans. Can't wait to find out what the four Jag CD games are!

Sega Chat / Sega Interactive Arcade Archives
April 27, 2016, 17:25:32 PM
Sega has created a interactive archive of all their arcade games and from what I'm reading this is the first time they have ever shared this info with the public.

Sega Interactive

You will have to use google translate and even then some of it will still be in Japanese but it's pretty cool looking through all the old arcade games :)

There's an IndieGoGo campaign that's just been launched for a new Commodore 64 computer and handheld!

THE64

There's lots of info and more pictures on the site and it says they are still working on which games will come included. Any C64 fans around here?
#46

This is completely unexpected, and completely awesome! No info yet other than this picture that they tweeted but hopefully there's more info soon. Looking at the date and time it's actually April fools day in Japan already, but they posted this pic a couple days ago so I think we're safe. Can't wait to find out more about this :113:

But Wait! There is more! 50% off on all orders over $800 for games and homebrew!! Just use the Code "NEW50"

$400 for $800 worth of games is a great deal, but I don't think I want to spend quite that much :21: I might take advantage of the 20% off deal though.

Homebrew Chat / New Dreamcast game Xenocider
March 21, 2016, 14:23:33 PM
The Dreamcast Junkyard took a look at a new Space Harrier style game in development called Xenocider. It's fairly early but so far looks great.

I love Space Harrier so I'm really looking forward to this being finished!

Nintendo Chat / N64 Games Hack
March 17, 2016, 21:14:30 PM
I just saw this and it's pretty cool!

Retro Collect

Besides the odd N64 controller the only problem I've ever had with the system was how blurry the graphics looked, but with these hacks some games now look much better. You can see screenshot comparisons in the link and there's also links to where you can find the hacks too. I might have to pick up an action replay and try these out.

Retro News & Chat / Pac-Man Pop! Vinyl Figures
January 29, 2016, 21:41:28 PM
I don't know if there's anybody around here that collects these, but if you don't you might want to start! Funko has unveiled their newest line of figures and they are all the characters from Pac-Man :113:

Here's the Funko site where you can see the rest of the lineup with all the details.

I have a couple of these Pop! vinyl figures from Loot Crate and they are pretty cool. I just might have to get the whole set of these ones!

Super Fighter Team have just finished these two games and they are available for ordering.

http://www.magicgirlgame.com/

http://www.playcascade.com/

Magic Girl was originally only released in Taiwan and Cascade was to be released in Japan but for whatever reason never was. Good looking games and with Super Fighter Team you know the packaging will be high quality :113:

Didn't see this coming, and honestly after the failed IGG campaign I wasn't sure if they would even return, but according to their facebook account they have now partnered with Coleco and changed the name to match!

Now too much info yet but I'm really looking forward to finding out more :113:

Edit:
Here's the press release from their website.

QuoteTrabuco Canyon, CA (PR) – December 17, 2015 Video-game industry pioneer COLECO re-enters the market, partnering with Retro Video Game Systems, Inc., to introduce a new, modern-day video-game system called the COLECO Chameleon.

COLECO Chameleon is a versatile new video-game system that serves as a modern day take on the classic game console and will accurately play classic games from the past.  The COLECO Chameleon also has the ability play brand-new games in the 8-, 16- and 32-bit styles, a growing and popular genre in today's game scape.

Chris Cardillo, a partner in COLECO said, "Mark [Thomann] and I are excited to work hand-in-hand with Retro Video Game Systems, Inc. in the launch of the COLECO Chameleon.  It's ironic that a new 'retro' video-game system would actually revolutionize and revitalize the COLECO brand."

And, for the first time in nearly 20 years, the COLECO Chameleon will once again play brand new games on long-lasting, durable cartridges that can be played, traded, and collected for a lifetime.  And all game cartridges will include high quality, plastic clamshell cases with illustrated instruction manuals and game developer liner notes.

Retro Video Game Systems, Inc. President Mike Kennedy adds, "The COLECO Chameleon is a love-letter to all the classic cartridge based gaming systems that came before it and we love the fact it will succeed COLECO's successful Telstar and Colecovision product lines.  It will take gamers and their families back to a simpler time where games were all about great gameplay and fun factor."

The COLECO Chameleon will launch in early 2016 and will also be demonstrated at Toy Fair New York 2016, February 13-16.

Homebrew Chat / The Polycade - Retro Arcade of the Future
November 17, 2015, 19:26:18 PM
Seems like everyone is getting involved in new arcade hardware these days, including the son of Nolan Bushnell.

Polycade

Nice idea, but this is definitely for businesses or people with deep pockets! The early bird price is $1250, regular KS price $1600, and retail price after the campaign is $1950.

I wish them luck :113:

Retro News & Chat / Dreamcast Ultimate Collectors Guide
October 28, 2015, 21:39:18 PM

This is a new book that is supposed to be the definitive guide to every game released for the system. It's been put together by the guys at the Dreamcast Junkyard and it's available now.

The link to purchase is on their site, however they are waiting for the second batch to be printed so it will be a couple weeks before they start shipping. This is just a couple guys putting this together so they did a small first run to get money to continue which went up on ebay yesterday. It's sold out but I grabbed one in time so I will post some thoughts when it shows up.

The foreword written by Tom Charnock is RVG member Tomleecee. He's pretty passionate about the Dreamcast so this should be good.

Thanks to Greyfox for tweeting about this Kickstarter project!

Here's the link http://kck.st/1kHZ1mQ but before anyone gets too excited I suggest you check out the rewards and prices first!

I think you would have to be a very hardcore Dragons Lair fan to want to spend that much, but I wish them luck. I like the idea of making a movie out of it but too pricey for me.

Read the story here about this long lost N64 Viewpoint game. There's a link in the story to the ebay auction where it sold for $2,999.99/£1,980.52!

The person who bought it uploaded a video of the game in action to youtube and it looks good. Makes you wonder why they never released it.

Here's the site I got the list from http://nintendoeverything.com/edge-rank ... deo-games/

There's a link there to the site where you can buy the magazine, but it's already sold out. Too bad, it looks like they did a full 2 page spread on each game. I would have bought a copy for sure.

Anyway, I know these lists are always subjective but I for one am very happy with it. Demon's Souls at 20, Bloodborne at 4, and Dark Souls at #1 :113:

They went a little too much with modern games though I think. Any top 100 list should have Doom on it, and arcade classics like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong etc. . .
