Retro News & Chat / Game Testers Wanted
January 13, 2017, 17:55:37 PM
Hi folks.

We need a few short term testers for our upcoming MSX2 game Inferno.

We are very close to completion but we would like a few more people to really try to find any faulty rooms or bugs before we launch.

Knowledge of the MSX is not important, you can easily download and test on an emulator like BlueMSX.

Please drop me an email at paul{at}pcengine.co.uk if you're interested. Thanks!

General Retro Chat / The PC Engine 30 Years Book
February 13, 2016, 12:35:55 PM

In 2017, the PC Engine will be 30 years old. To celebrate this event, I hope to gather stories, photos and memories of the PC Engine and/or TurboGrafx-16 from the gaming community and compile them into a free book that anyone can view online or download and print.

This book will be a community project, written by us, for us to enjoy in later years.

I'm looking for virtually anything you have to say about the PC Engine/TG-16.

Here are some examples that you could consider:
When you first saw a PCE/TG.
General memories, events (serious, funny, happy or sad) concerning the PCE/TG.
Stories about the PCE/TG (real or fictional is OK!)
PCE/TG related artwork you want to share.
Photos of you, your setup or collection, you playing, or just being silly with your PCE/TG.
Comments about your favourite (or least favourite) games.
Anything else PCE/TG related that you can think of!

This isn't a book of serious reviews, but a book of personal perspectives.

Submissions don't have to be a work of writing genius! Feel free to write as though you were posting on a forum or talking to a friend. Write a full article if you wish. Whatever suits you - the main goal is to gather stories and memories, however they are presented. And if you don't feel like writing, draw something, make a model, bake a PC Engine cake and send in a photo. There are no limits!

You can send any content or enquiries to me at paul[at]pcengine.co.uk or on the PC Engine Software Bible facebook page or twitter.

Full information can be found HERE.

Here's the first sample page layout:

This is a new experiment I'm doing as a way to allow people to look at and appreciate the art from old games. Will mostly be PCE / TG16 for the time being but may venture out to other areas in future.

Best viewed full screen HD.

I've started a new weekly series on YouTube with short videos featuring some of the homebrew titles for retro computers and consoles. Hopefully this will give the homebrew scene a little more exposure.

Retro News & Chat / Never Played NES
October 13, 2013, 14:56:02 PM
I seem to have missed out on the NES first time around, so I've started a new video series in which I play NES games (usually poorly) for the first time and record my impressions. Here's the first one.

PanicBoss is now available for download - a free videogame based card game that uses characters and locations from PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 games, but will be familiar to any classic game fan.

The game can be played with 3 sets of rules. The main 2 player game, a quick and easy 2 player trump game or a solo game for the loners. Just download, print out and play!

Download from here.

It's not technically homebrew software, but it kinda counds as homebrew cardware  :P
