Spectrum Chat / Sinclair ZX Interface 2
July 13, 2014, 16:04:53 PM
The ZX Interface 2 was a peripheral from Sinclair Research for its ZX Spectrum home computer released in September 1983. It had two joystick ports and a ROM cartridge slot, which offered instant loading times. The joystick ports were not compatible with the popular Kempston interface, and thus did not work with most Spectrum games released prior to the launch of the ZX Interface 2. In addition, the pass-through expansion bus provided was stripped, only allowing a ZX Printer to be attached.

Retro News & Chat / Re: Same Name, Different Game

All 3 Mega Drive Shinobi games are absolutely superb. Shinobi 3 is actually my favourite Shinobi game, my brother disagrees however and thinks it is Shadow Dancer. You really can't go wrong with any of them though. The SMS conversion of the original game is also very good.

Quote from: "TrekMD"It's too bad that Shinobi was not directly ported to the Genesis/MD.  It would have been a great game for the console.

I have always thought this too, it's actually quite strange that Sega ignored many of their own coin-ops when making games for the Mega Drive.

Now here we have an interesting one - Capcom's Gun Smoke. What makes this one different is that the Master System version was only released in Korea and Taiwan, it never made it to the west. Also it wasn't actually written for the SMS, it was a game for the SC-3000 computer originally - a Sega computer based on the SG-1000 console (the predecessor to the SMS). Because the Master System was backwards compatible with these machines, using an enhanced version of the same hardware which itself was based on the MSX standard, the game was ported over without any trouble.

I think we might finally see a unanimous win for the NES with this one . . . . .
