Welcome to Centron 3D, a brand new and exciting game for the Atari 8-bit home computers! There are still thousands of Atari users in the world today that still own and use their Atari 8-bit computers and so RPC Games decided to produce a new and exciting game for these machines. They have introduced a brand new game with a sophisticated multi-colour graphics mode called CMode 72 that goes far beyond what anyone thought was possible. This allows 72 colours to be displayed on screen simultaneously, flicker free, with animated sprites and backgrounds!

Welcome Centron ! So, you want to play a game? Hmmm, ok! De-Rez as many coloured spheres as you can with your De-Rezonizer before your timer reaches zero! Avoid obstacles, mines and enemy ships as they have been programmed to destroy you. You have 23 levels of chaos and madness with full colour graphics, 4 channel sound and extreme excitement. Can you make it through all 23 levels? Hahahahaha, We shall see! So, if you have an Atari 8-bit home computer stored away in your home, it's time to get it out of storage and power it up because it's time to play CENTRON 3D!!!

Centron 3D will be available for the XL and XE machines with a minimum of 64k of memory (128k preferable) and a 1050 Dual Density or XF551 Disk Drive. Although the game has been tested on emulators, RPC have found that the colour palette and hardware timing is not 100% accurate, so they won't be supporting
emulators, although Centron 3D should run ok on them. Centron 3D has been beta tested on real unexpanded hardware, both the Atari 800XL and Atari 130XE with 1050 and XF551 Floppy Disk drives. You can order your new Atari game, Centron 3D, after the launch date -> 7th July 2014

Many of you will have seen the excellent Touchdown Challenge for the Atari 2600 VCS by homebrew coder Atarius Maximus. Well now he has programmed an Atari ProSystem version of the game using the new 7800 basic, his first game for the classic system. This title was used as a chance for him to learn the system and many improvements have been made on the game since the original version was released.

The idea of the game is simply to run up the football field, if you get to the top you score 7 points, if you touch an opposing player you're tackled and the game pauses and then you press fire to reset. There are 15 different patterns for the opposing players, simple sound effects, animated sprites and high scores. The game isn't 100% finished yet but has been left for now, the game may be worked on more in the future.

The game can be can be downloaded for free to use with emulators and real hardware via a flash cartridge. Atarius Maximus has also made the source code and other files available for others to look at to help with their own 7800 Basic projects. You can read more about the development of this game over in the thread on Atari Age. We all hope this game is worked on more with a 2-player mode added and released properly on a cartridge, it sure is a lot of fun, even in its current form!

Brought to us by the homebrew heroes at Death Squad this title features full colour graphics, music and over 70 rooms!

Taking the role of Willy The Wasp you must buzz your way through the treacherous caverns to replenish your venom and so you can sting some more pasty sunbathers! You must find the 50 vials of poisonous fluid and then get to annoying those poor bald headed blokes. As well as your human foes there are lots of other insects who aren't too pleased with your presence either, so I hope your flying skills are up to scratch!

Willy The Wasp has been designed to use with both 48k and 128k Spectrum's and has been released completely for free! Double Or Nothing is another excellent entry in this years Shoot 'em Up Construction Kit competition. It was programmed by Alf Yngve with music by Richard Bayliss. You can read more about this year's entries HERE!

Your world is at war. But as the chaos rages around you, your mind seems to drift... your memories grow contradictory. You fear that you are going mad. Are you living in two places at once? Are you experiencing an alternate life in a parallel reality?

We are proud to announce Piko Interactive's take on the Flappy Bird hype! After checking out the thousands of clones of Flappy Bird and the mania caused by these games on the mobile markets as well as the many different homebrew clones on retro platforms they decided that it was Piko's turn to show our style with Flappy Bird Clone of their own! This one gives a new take on the popular flash game with some suitably spooky graphics and sound that will make this a great game to play at Halloween parties!

You can actually play a free version of the game via a special SNES flash player over at the official Creepy Bird website for those who want to try before they buy. The game will be available to buy in physical form on a cartridge from the Piko Interactive store very soon! In the meantime you can watch this video of the real game in action!

Yopaz IceStar is a puzzle game that, as you can probably see, is the sequel to the popular DiamJag, one of the very first homebrew games released for the Jaguar. The game was originally released for the PlayStation 1 back in September last year and is now being ported to the Jaguar. It is planned that it will be available to buy on CD sometime after the newly released Philia, another Jag CD game by OrionSoft.

You play as a little character named Yopaz and you must collect all the stars in the universe, but the vacuum of space forces you to slide indefinitely when you run in one direction. Only an ice wall will stop you in your tracks! With this unusual constraint, you will need to collect all stars on each level. This puzzle game features 40 levels in 3 worlds with local high score to beat the best time with your friends and infinite levels possibility using the excellent built in level editor !

In comparison to DiamJag, Yopaz adds the Advanced World, providing additional features for seasoned players. You will also be able to change your colour and collect stars of the corresponding colour! Your colour will also allow you to go through teleporters, direction changers, or even protect you from enemies! You can watch a video of the PS1 version of the game here but the Atari Jaguar version will look exactly the same, except that the PocketStation minigame is not available. It will be available as a professionally pressed CD in a DVD case with a manual (just like Philia). Stay tuned for more news on this game very soon!

After playing Kickoff on his iPhone it inspired AtariAge member Atarius Maximus to make a similar, simple football game. The object is to run past the defenders and score a touchdown.  The pattern changes when you score.  Most of the players run slowly down the field, but there is one who will relentlessly chase you. If you get tackled, the score resets. The game was programmed using Batari Basic.

He only spent about ~4 hours on this game as a proof of concept, but has since given it more development time as he had fun with it. He has now made several revisions of the game, fixed a lot of bugs and added sound too. He has also increased the difficulty a bit too as the original game contained tactics that made it far too easy to score!

You can read more about the development of this game in the thread over at AA, where you can also take a look at the different revisions of the game and grab the instructions. The game is available to download for free to use with emulators and real hardware via a flash cartridge.

Lawless Legends is a fantasy role playing game set in the wild west for the Apple II. A C64 will follow and possibly a few other platforms will join them too, so watch this space! The game is still heavily into development and the team behind it are still looking for people who might be able to help them with the project. You can contact them via the Lawless Legends Facebook page.

The year is 1856, you have just arrived at Fort Miller, near Mariposa California. The gold rush has now past it's peak and the region is slowly being over run with cutthroats, thieves, murderers and the like. It seems like drifters from the wilderness are gravitating back into the nearest town they can find. The only other thing keeping the peace in these parts, besides lawmen, are the saloons with their fill of booze, gambling and loose women. To make things worse, there are rumors circulating about mysterious, unnatural things taking place behind the curtain of mountains beyond the local ridges, spreading like wildfire. It's getting to the point where most folks are too nervous to venture far from town...even for gold.

Over on the Facebook page there are tons of screenshots, lots of news, teasers and even some videos that show how the game is coming along. The developers have really gone all out to show you how the game is being made and get people involved in the project, so full kudos to them for giving us such an insight. We will bring you more news on this game as it gets nearer to release but in the mean time here are a couple of videos you can watch on the game!

CAPCOM NOW OPEN TO BUYOUT

Capcom announced today that it will not be renewing its takeover defense, and is now open to a buyout, should a third party company buy a large enough share of Capcom stock.

Up until now, Capcom's takeover defense, which was originally instituted in 2008, has kept any company from acquiring Capcom directly through its shareholders. This method, known as a hostile takeover, is now possible following the shareholders' decision not to renew the countermeasure.

The company said it "will react to take steps to ensure disclosure of the position of the board of directors," and also make sure "there is sufficient time for shareholders to examine the proposed large-scale purchase and reach a decision."

In April, Capcom began construction on its second research and development center in Osaka, Japan after announcing a $78 million plan to expand and increase focus on internal game development. The plan also included hiring 100 new developers per year, in the hopes of having 2,500 on staff by 2022.

As for existing Capcom developers, Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono announced yesterday that he is leaving Capcom Vancouver, where he most recently worked on Dead Rising 3. Although it's unclear whether Ono is leaving Capcom completely, he did say he needed time to think about his next step.[/align:1k9i1xqy]

EAB member Earok is currently hard at work on an Amiga CD32 port of the classic id Software FPS Wolfenstein 3D. He has based it on the AWolf source code and as you can probably see he's taken a couple of liberties with the rendering (e.g. the viewport width), but he's also managed to get it fast enough to be playable on a stock standard CD32. Also it's fully playable on just a stock controller.

There's still a few rendering glitches to sort out and he also wants to look at the sound and music (there's none at the moment), a registered version, Spear of Destiny support and rudimentary NVRam saving. This is his first Amiga dev project and he willfully accepts that his C is really bad! He is still looking for suggestions on how to make improvements and has made the full source code available for download as well as a W.I.P. ISO. You can get involved in the project and read more over at EAB in the official devlopment thread.

Homebrew Chat / Uridium - New MSX Homebrew!
June 15, 2014, 14:24:45 PM

Uridium is a science fiction side-scrolling shoot 'em up originally designed by Andrew Braybrook for the Commodore 64, and later ported to other 8-bit machines. It consists of fifteen levels, each named after a metal element, with the last level being called Uridium (a fictional metallic element, not to be confused with the real metallic element iridium). The manual quotes Robert Orchard, who invented the name as saying "I really thought it existed." Uridium was later released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990. Mindscape purchased a license to release a game based on the film The Last Starfighter. Rather than program a new game, however, Mindscape decided to take an easier route by recycling an older, relatively obscure game. The title screen, sprites, and soundtrack were modified, but the levels and gameplay were identical. And now the game has been made available on the MSX computer thanks to Trilobyte and Toni Galvez!

Uridium Limited Deluxe Edition:
New and exclusive features in a 64k ROM cartridge, available soon as Solid State Software, with plastic box, exclusive cover and documentation. Numbered cartridge manufactured by Repro Factory. There is also a free version of the ROM available for download.

A few days ago a former member of the prolific Ocean Software revealed that he had found an old disk that was marked as being a version of Rastan for the Atari ST. Ocean only ever released conversions of the popular Taito coin-op for the 8-bit computers of the time, so this discovery of a 16-bit version was exciting news!

Now they have had a chance to try the disk out and it still works! The game was clearly in the very early stages of production and there is still no idea who was actually working on this project. As well as a few screenshots a rather ropey video of it in action has also been posted on the Ocean Software Facebook Page, so go check it out!

In some (not very) exciting news from E3 Atari have revealed the new hardware that was hinted at in recent interviews with their CEO Fred Chesnais. But don't expect something revolutionary like the 2600 VCS or the Lynx, this new range is nothing more than a selection of Android tablets and smart phones. We don't have a copy of the actual catalogue yet but we do have some photos that a eagle eyed E3 attendant Tim Trzepacz, who works for SoftEgg and created the awesome music software Rhythm Core Alpha 2 for Nintendo DSi and 3DS, took with his phone.

Each system variation seems to just be a cheap Chinese Android device with the Atari name slapped on it and pre-loaded with a bunch of Atari's sub-standard mobile games. Despite the announcement there really is anything new about this, Atari probably should have done something like like before the OUYA came along - an Atari branded system like that could have worked. But this is nothing more than another cheap attempt to cash in on the name and legacy of Atari. We await to see what the actual quality of these products is like.

Homebrew Chat / 4XV - New Mattel Intellivision Game
June 11, 2014, 17:20:32 PM

CollectorVision is proud to announce: 4XV - For the Mattel Intellivision!

A new homebrew game to be released early next year, this game is very much a work in progress so far and information is scarce. However it is clear to see from the animated GIF that has been produced that the game is very similar to the classic Atari arcade game Gravitar and and the popular computer game Thrust. It's worth noting though that this is a totally original game.

More details coming soon, So stay tuned to this thread and we will bring you more news when we have it!

This thread is only an announcement. There are NO pre-orders at this time. The original announcement was made over at Intellivision Revolution. You can visit CollectorVision's official website HERE!

This certainly looks like an exciting release for the classic console!
