I LOVE Gain Ground.  And you're right, it's been on pretty much every Megadrive compilation for decades & it still somehow gets overlooked!!

I think it's the fact that although it looks like a blast everything that moves arcade game like Robotron, Smash TV or Gauntlet, there's a really deep strategy to it, of bringing out just the right character at just the right time to complete the screen.

Love playing it with my mate Pete, who gets wound up something shocking because I usually tend to go a bit too gung-ho & end up losing characters.

1942 rivals 1985's Commando as being Capcom's first major hit outside Japan. While the series isn't among Capcom's greatest, the games are still a fun thrill ride all the way through. For me, 1943:The Battle of Midway would be the best.

With the Blue Bomber having recently had his 34th anniversary, I have revisited the classic Mega Man games once again and have been playing them quite a bit, as well as various fan made Mega Man games on a Mega Man-related multi cart I bought a few years back. Mega Man 2 was my favorite, but with certain people in recent years saying that it's overrated and getting too much of the credit, I can see where they are coming from, but don't think it is overrated. That one, 5, 6 and 7 I think are my favorites. And MM11 is the best game in the series in years.

And don't tell me that "Baseball Stars 2" is better, because I refuse to believe that. This game is not only the one baseball game I don't completely suck at, but it's one that I actually enjoy playing. It's the baseball game equivalent to NBA Jam or Blades of Steel. This game has it all. Robots, land mines, sexy chicks, pulse pounding heavy metal and synth rock, everything. Baseball Stars 2 doesn't have any of that, and this game deserves more recognition and praise than that one does. I sucked at this one too when I first played it, but I was interested in it enough to get good at it. Because of that, it is my second favorite game on the Neo Geo right now.

I have a few repro carts. I don't like to buy them unless it is a game that is super valuable and/or didn't get an official US release (like Mega Man:The Wily Wars), or it is a ROM hack of something that I find myself playing and enjoying more than usual, such as these two ROM hacks of Sonic 1, which replaces Sonic with Rouge the Bat in one of the hacks, and Sonic with Princess Sally in the other. All three of which I DO own reproduction carts of. I also have a repro cart of that bootleg Genesis port of the SNES version of Aladdin that Capcom made which is called "Aladdin II", which I find hilarious.

There is nothing you can say or do to convince me that this is NOT one of the greatest games that SEGA has ever produced. Despite being included on every single Genesis collection since 2006, I feel that this game does not get enough recognition at all. When people talk about the greatest Genesis games of all time (Gain Ground was originally an arcade game FTR) or what their all time favorite Genesis games are, they usually just have the same old stuff. Sonic, Altered Beast, Revenge of Shinobi, Phantasy Star II & III, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, etc, but you never hear ANYONE mention Gain Ground. And it's a shame, because this game is worthy enough to be in the same league as those classics I just mentioned. I admit, the first time I played it, I thought it was pretty meh, and didn't think it was all that interesting, but while accidentally learning more about the game than I intended on doing, I started to grow more interested in it. And now I love it so much! Whether you are playing it on original hardware, or an emulated version on a classic game compilation for a modern day console, there's no denying that this is a classic. If you have a Nintendo Switch, you must check out the SEGA AGES edition they released for it!

I honestly can't think of a better 2d racers. It is fantastic. Proudly part of my Sega collection.

Was looking at an old review of it from GamePro in their January 1992 issue, and it got a perfect score in all categories. It’s a rare breed when it comes to racing games and has a seriously addicting replay value.

Yeah! This game was the real deal. If you grew up in the 90's, you must have heard of it at some point. Yeah, driving around on a motorcycle and beating the s**t out of other people on motorcycles if they tried to get in your way and messed with you. Doesn't get any better than this. Back when Electronic Arts was actually putting out good games and years before they took the LJN route, this was arguably their best original work that wasn't a port of an already existing PC game. Everything about it was amazing for it's time and all three of the original games on the Genesis are still a ton of fun to play this day.

If Arcade1UP counts, then yes, I have a full sized Final Fight cab, and a countertop Space Invaders machine.

Twin Eagle is one of those things they call hot garbage. In regards to gaming, it refers to a game that has some interesting features to it, but at the end of the day is nothing really special. The thing about Twin Eagle that all of the sound is digitized. Right down to the music. And this was all the way back in 1988 that this game out. I hear it also uses digitized graphics, but I have not seen any. Unfortunately though, the game is very mundane and boring, and remember when I said it had a digitized soundtrack? Well there are only two music tracks in the game. The main theme you hear during the stages, high score entry, and the ending is one, and the other is the boss theme. That’s it. The boss theme also has vocals in it, which is very impressive for 1988, even though Psycho Soldier did that the year before. But despite all these fascinating technical quirks of the time, that doesn’t save it from being mediocre.

The Atari Lynx is the only Atari system I own right now. But is this thing something you can actually buy? Or is it just some fan made project?

I’m from the East Coast of the USA, and I’ve been a part of the retro gaming scene for years. I was a retro gamer long before retro gaming was a thing. It’s been hard to get most retro games ever since the phenomenon has gotten so huge over the past few years, but it is still a great scene to be a part of.
