I think I'm getting to that point too - I'm considering selling off my SMS collection and picking up an everdrive instead.  I've already boxed up all the cases for CD based stuff, and have those in storage boxes in the loft.  The only stuff that I use regularly seems to be the Jag and the Lynx, and potter with some arcade stuff.  I like having all the hardware, so I don't think I'll ever get rid of that (maybe trim it down a bit to one of each), but investing in everdrives instead of physical media may be my way forward.

Yeah, mine has a VGA CRT in it and seems to work pretty well. I also have an upscaler ready to go into my cab to convert 15khz arcade signals up to VGA. Once I make a bit more progress, I want to try running the video from the jamma edge through the upscaler to see what the result is like.

Lol. My console stuff has taken over the spare bedroom and the attic. Apparently, an arcade machine in the house spoils the ambience - go figure. I ended up getting an old video gambling machine, but the guy I got if off had already had it resprayed at a paint shop, so it looks pretty reasonable.

Just dipped my toe into this and bought my first cab.  It's in bits at the moment, although I've just finished rewiring it.  Need to make some modifications to the control panel that I managed to screw up, but it will be 2P 6 button.  I have a Pandora's Box 3 in there at the moment for testing, but I'd like to put my Hyper Neo 64 board in there, which hasn't been out of the box since I bought it.  I'll get some pics up when its in a more assembled state.

No problem at all. At least it makes it slightly more playable!

That's ridiculous. I'm all for collecting full sets, but if a game is that rare, then I'd rather spend the money on an everdrive. FFS!!

If you need that version of VJ, I can fins somewhere to dump it - would be interesting to see if you get the same results.  In the root of the c:jaguar folder, the readme explains that you cannot use Atari's mac (assembler) and aln (linker) due to incompatibilities with Win2K and up.  It gives two options to use as replacements.

It would definitely be a good idea to pop a thread in somewhere to keep this info available - good to see the Jag getting some love again!

Just successfully flashed both .cof files to my skunkboard, and they both work fine on real hardware.  Must be a bug in later versions of VJ.

Apologies, life and small children got in the way, as well as a dead laptop battery.  Whilst I was doing some testing last night, I realised that all my stuff was on my external HD at work, so I downloaded the source, dev kit and VJ again.  I got the same results as you.  However, when I got to work this morning, I fired up VJ and painter from my external HD, and it worked fine.  I also copied over the .cof I generated last night into my VJ software folder, and that worked.  Looking a little bit further, it seems I have two different versions of VJ - 2.1.2 (which doesn't load the .cof file), and 2.1.0 (which does).

I'm just looking for an old laptop so I can install my skunk drivers to flash the file - corporate policy prevents me from disabling the driver signing check in Windows 8.1
