The Mega Drive version was definitely the better of the two.
Set traps, find parts, create random cool weapons, wait for the bandits to arrive and run around stopping them. It was strategic and fun.
I played the genesis version hundreds of times and i can't think of a better movie based game that took the spirit of a film and made you part of it, you felt like you took on the role of the person stopping the bandits, rather than just have you play through of scenes of the film.
The master system game feels much more like traditional movie games, ok but meh.

Personally i have to go for Links Awakening on the Game Boy
Its so hard to just pick one, but this was the first game that really drew me in. Since i first got the game at launch i must have spent months and months of hours playing it.
Its still one I pick up every few months and finish. Everything was perfect, the story, the music (even though it is just beeps).
For what it was on the system it was on, it was perfect for me.

Its a shame UMD came out so late, the shield on the disc just makes them kick ass. Anyone know their capacity?

not really. its fallen to the bottom of a rather large pile, behind video game reviews, physics degree, sorting out my relationship and playing games. (not in that order)

So having disappeared for the best part of the last month playing Zelda Wind Waker, i was curious what other people thought was the best Zelda game and Links best aid/weapon
Best for me has to be the original gameboy Link's Awakening, just because i grew up with it, followed by Majora's Mask and Wind Waker in joint 2nd place.
As for best item/aid. As the title suggests, Epona the horse.
