This was announced four days ago and surprised me a lot since the series has been dead since 1998. I had just started playing Breakers Revenge a month ago and now a rerelease is coming to PC and consoles.  QUByte Interactive acquired the rights to the franchise on August 15th and immediately announced that they would be releasing this collection.  Apparently there will be bonus content, but nothing specific has been specified yet.

Here's a video I made with a friend of mine about the series as well as our thoughts on the announcement and what we're hoping to see in Breakers Collection.

What are your thoughts on this?  Have you ever played Breakers before or at least heard about it?  What would you like to see done with this collection?

I'm not sure if any of you guys here are familiar, but this is a really cool service I've been using for the past 5 months to practice Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

http://www.fightcade.com/

The main focus of FightCade is for people to play classic 2D fighting games online, but several other titles are also supported such as Final Fight and Puzzle Bobble.  As long as both players have a decent connection, the games run very smoothly.

Have any of you ever tried FightCade?  What are your thoughts on it?

For people interested in playing classic PC titles, selecting the right Windows version is very important.  Each new version of Windows omits some compatibility with older programs and increases support for newer ones.  It's fairly easy to find a cheap, working Windows XP machine and XP can run most Windows 95 and 98 games perfectly, but what if you're trying to run Windows 3.1 software or DOS games?  You might get lucky with a few programs, but most won't work. However, if you're using an older version like Windows 98, you'll be able to run nearly all of these, but if you also wanted to play games from the mid 2000s, chances are they'll refuse to load.

The truth is, there really is no best version of Windows for Retro Gaming, but there might be one that's perfect for your needs. The one I find myself using the most is Windows ME Millennium Edition. It certainly has its problems, but aside from one BSOD, I've never had any major issues with it. Except for a few Windows 2000/XP games such as Doom 3, everything I want it to run works perfectly. DOS support is limited since Microsoft tried their hardest to hide their command line OS as much as possible, but for my Retro Gaming needs, it's been wonderful. The best part is that it's very easy to configure like Windows XP and detected nearly all of my Hardware immediately. I was originally going to use 98SE, but I had too many compatibility issues with my PC so I switch to ME.

Which version of Windows do you prefer for running classic PC software and what era of games are you trying to run on it?

Has anyone seen this before?  I randomly found the first image last year and today I found a forum topic about it as well as another image of the watch.  Apparently these were made in 1992.  I'd love to buy one if I can find one for sale :)

Sega Chat / The Sega Game Gear Discussion Thread
December 21, 2017, 21:51:07 PM
Sega's 8-Bit Handheld is often neglected because most people think it's just a portable Master System that sucks batteries and is shaped like a brick.  However, these people are actually missing out on one of the greatest portable consoles ever made.  I love it so much that I'd even go as far as saying it's my favorite gaming platform!  So, because I'm obsessed, I'm now starting The Sega Game Gear Discussion Thread!

What are your thoughts on the Game Gear?  Did you have one back when it was new?  What are your favorite Game Gear games?  Show us your collection, reminisce about the handheld, and discuss what you love about it!

General Retro Chat / Fatal Fury VS Art Of Fighting

Which classic SNK fighting franchise do you prefer?

I love Art Of Fighting a lot and have been playing the original almost every day this month, but I think I'd have to go with Fatal Fury because I like the selection of fighters it has slightly more.

Retro News & Chat / Dreamcast Gamer: The Movie
October 07, 2017, 13:19:00 PM
A new full-length retro gaming movie has just been announced!  This one is nothing like Pixels, Wreck-It-Ralph, or Atari: Game Over, as this is a free YouTube film starring...ME!

This is really happening.  I can't say much about it yet, but I will say that several YouTubers like The No Swear Gamer are in this film.

More details coming soon...

Here's some info from the descrition

"If you're new to the series, please watch these videos to understand the events leading up to this movie.  Dreamcast Gamer is a fictional series about a teenage retro game reviewer who became famous after ranting about how awful games based on Garfield are.  In recent episodes, he's encountered a mysterious organization (who's leader is wearing in a Garfield costume) that has been following him around.  What does any of this mean?  Watch these episodes and the movie to find out!"

Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge Review - Dreamcast Gamer Episode 19

Altered Beast Review - Dreamcast Gamer Episode 21

P.S. If this should be in the YouTube forum instead (since it's a movie, I figured it belong here) then please move it.  Thanks

Hello Everyone.  I've been running a YouTube channel for almost a year now with some great stuff relating to retro games.  Although my channel is called "Dreamcast Gamer", I'm not strictly Dreamcast.  In fact, I mostly focus on consoles older than the Dreamcast.  As new videos are uploaded, I'll post them here for you guys to see.

The Dreamcast Gamer episodes have a story to them that's part fiction, but with real game reviews.  Everything else (except for random stuff like The Search For The Floppy Disk) is real life.

I'm the Dreamcast Gamer, a 16 year old that's obsessed with retro gaming, particularly anything made by Sega.  I was searching the internet this morning to find a random retro gaming forum and found this awesome place.

Anyway, I'll be back later today.  See ya!
