Homebrew Chat / Centron3D for Falcon030 Update.
« on: December 28, 2017, 06:34:09 AM »
Hi Guys, Pete here from RPC-GAMES!. Just an update for you all.
Centron3D for the Atari Falcon030 is coming together nicely.
Attached is the into screen with the Atari logo spinning on the screen. (Bottom left).
I've still got a lot of work to do but I'm getting there. All the 23 levels of 16bit graphics (65536 colours) is done and I can say that they ALL look very impressive. The Amiga500 version only had 64 colours where as the Falcon030 has 65536 colours even on the game field. YES it's a Falcon030 Hi-colour game.
While writing the game in 68030 assembly I couldn't believe the speed of the Falcon030. Ours only runs at 16Mhz with 14MB of ram and the speed of loading from HardDisk is incredible. Levels, sprites and sound samples all load massively fast and thats without an accelerator card. I'm very impressed with the Atari Falcon030, just Love it.
What a fantastic home computer.
Ok, so I'm still working on the game code at the moment and it's quite easy for me. I'm hoping to finish it a few months. I should have the first YouTube video in a few weeks so I'll let everyone know when it's done.
Thanks Guys....... Have you played Atari today? LOL. Love that jingle. :)

« on: November 05, 2016, 04:39:01 AM »
Hi Guys, here's the title screen and level 1 pics taken with my phone of Centron 3D for the Atari Falcon 030. These screens is not actual gameplay but copy and paste using the blitter chip. We just wanted to see how the graphics is going to look using the Falcons trucolour mode. We were so excited seeing this we thought we'd share it with you guys too. LOL.  :D
So the next step is getting some game play happening... Stay tuned.
Pete :)

Atari Chat / CENTRON3D for Atari Falcon030 by RPC_GAMES!
« on: October 25, 2016, 08:46:55 AM »
Hi Guys, I can't believe it's been 2 years since we created Centron3D for the Amiga. We now own an Atari Falcon030 and have decided the first game to be created will be our very own Centron3D. As we get familiar with the Falcons hardware we'll be attempting to use the Falcon's true colour mode in VGA 320x240x65536 colours or VGA 640x480x65536 colour mode for game play. Depending on the speed of the Falcons 68030 running at 16Mhz and the blitter running at 16Mhz we'll test to see if gameplay is playable in those graphics modes.  If it is playable then Centron 3D will be created in glorious 65536 colour mode, if not then the standard VGA 256 colour mode instead.
With the Amiga version we tried to create the game in the Amigas 4096 colour mode (HAM) but the sprite objects colours bled into other colours so the game was created in the Amigas 64 colour halfbrite mode instead.
Also our Falcon030 has 14MB of ram so there's a lot more memory for more sprite animations and Digital Sound FX. The Atari Falcon030 version will have a lot of extras in the gameplay.
So give us a few months to get it done. Thanks guys and Have fun :).

Atari Chat / Atari FALCON coming our way. Need Software urgently.
« on: October 13, 2016, 22:20:40 PM »
Hi Guys and Gals, in a few days we will be receiving our Atari Falcon 030 so I need the following software. If anyone could show me where to download them that would be most appreciative.
1. 68000 Assembler
2. Music editor like Octamed for the Amiga.
3. Painting package like Deluxe Paint IV for the Amiga.
4. Sprite editors
and anything else you might think we'll need for gaming developement.
Also, with STOS. I've heard it's kind of like AMOS for the Amiga? I'll have to research that.

Anyway thanks guys for your support.

General Retro Chat / Most popular machine in the UK in the 1980's
« on: January 04, 2015, 22:43:58 PM »
HI Guys, I've watched a few documentaries on Acorn computers and Sinclair computers ZX Spectrum, +2 etc and I was wondering which one was more popular in the 1980's in the UK.
Did Acorn Archimedes machines outsell Spectrum machines?

Here in Australia in the 1980's it was mostly Atari 800XL, Commodore 64 & Apple IIe's.

So who actually dominated the home computer market in the 1980's in the UK, Acorn or Sinclair or was it some other brand?

Introductions / NEW DEVELOPER FOR ATARI 8-BIT - RPC-GAMES!
« on: July 04, 2014, 01:29:05 AM »
Hi Guys and Gals, we have been personally been invited to join Retro Video Gamer and a big thank you
for the invite.

We at RPC-GAMES! in Australia are creating a brand new game for the Atari 8-Bit called Centron 3D.

A fast flying 72 colour (on screen at once) game.  We needed more colour on screen for our game
so we have created a brand new graphics mode called CMODE72. This new mode allows us to put
72 colours anywhere or any pixel anywhere on screen including software sprites.

Centron 3D will be released on the 7th July 2014.

You can also check out the screen shots on our website www.rpcgames.com.au

A YouTube video will be posted soon.

Thanks again for the invite to Retro Video Gamer.
We Love all 8 bits and 16bit computers.
