Hi everyone,

I have just this minute made my second video with iMovie about how I protect my Jaguar.

I hope you enjoy the video and feel free to ask questions.

*** COMPETITION *** Win the Official Atari Jaguar Gamers Guide *** COMPETITION ***

Competition questions and rules: all questions must be answered except for optional ones, some are obviously easier than others, some are subjective with no right or wrong answer.
This is an official competition and winners will be notified in this topic and a postal address requested via pm.
This competition is completely free and winners will not incur any costs for postage or handling.
The purpose of this competition is to keep the dream alive for genuine Jaguar fans.
This competition is exclusive to RVG and its members.

1. True or False: At the time of launch, the Jaguar was the most powerful cartridge based system in the world!
2. Name a fighting game other than Kasumi Ninja
3. Name a driving game other than Chequered Flag
4. Optional question: What is the ironic connection between the Jaguar, the PS4 and X-Box ONE? (Question edited for clarity)
5. In full or by abbreviation, what is the name of the best multi-platform forum on the net?
6. In less than 1993 words, why have you entered this competition (this could be a competition clincher) - hint: keep it short
7. 2 in 1: In what country was the Jaguar designed, in what country was the Jaguar built?
8. The Jaguar has three chips, a Motorola 68000 and two others, name them.
9. Which Jaguar game title is your favourite and why?
10. How many buttons are there on a standard controller?
11. Name one of the games for the system which does not have music during gameplay (the clever gits can give a less obvious answer)
12. Optional question: How many feet does a Jaguar have?
13. (Just for fun) What, if any, is the significance of April 18th - Note: not Jaguar related and board Admins and Moderators are not allowed to answer but may give hints 😉I
14. Because I am a little superstitious, here is the final question; which Jaguar game title was designed around the VR peripheral?

Final note and NOT the answer to question 13, the winners will be announced on the 18th April 2017 subject to me being available and not drunk 😉

Ok, I will have to speak with the Admins at some point but, at my own expense, I have acquired a number of copies of these:

The question is who wants a copy? I am guessing this could be a competition (zapiy input welcome). At this stage, I would like to gauge genuine interest from genuine Jaguar fans.

BTW the model Jaguar is not included, sorry.

Retro News & Chat / Underappreciated Atari 8-Bit Games
November 14, 2015, 15:06:35 PM
Hmm, I know of an under-appreciated Atari 8-bit game. It was Powerdown, not sure if it was on the C64 as well but I really liked the approach of the game:
VIDEO This video does not spoil the game by showing the final stage which, is difficult but thrilling!

Ok, as my Jaguar collection slowly expands I need to store the games somewhere and for the last year they have been here:

Not ideal. So, I had a think and having seen a simple shelving system created by an American on YouTube a few weeks ago and Akuza's recent topic about his ambition to create a games room, I sat down and drew up a plan...

Apologies by the way, for the poor quality pictures. I took them with my phone.

So, this is where the unit will go...

...and so the measuring, cutting and drilling begins (yes, I am wearing slippers)...

Assembly...

Check for fit...

First glimpse...

Let's paint...

Looking good...

Fill her up!!!

I have left a little room for extra titles :4:

I have a lot of photographing to do but I thought I would start with this - My Atari Jaguar collection.

Here are the CD's I have:

The obscured image at the top is the JagFree CD which came with Protector SE. I will add more images as time permits but I am off abroad again in a few weeks so I doubt I will get much uploaded before Christmas now. I will pop in for comments of course <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" />

Announcements and Feedback / A suggestion
July 21, 2014, 16:00:32 PM
This just occured to me having seen the post about Protector resurgence.

Every forum, from time to time, sends out a newsletter. I was wondering, and I don't mean to burden anyone, but is it possible to create groups. That is Nintendo, Saga, Neo Geo etc and send, as and when there is something new, an update/brief newsletter to that specific group? This way, even if one hasn't been on the board for a while, an update would appear in their inbox which, in turn, would encourage them to get back on the site for further discussion.

Just an idea :)

Announcements and Feedback / Thank you posts
May 01, 2014, 13:44:49 PM
Just wondering what has happened to the 'thank you' post count?

I know a lot of people don't pay much attention to this but some of us do use it to show appreciation. I noticed one or two others set to zero also :7:

Atari Chat / Atari Jaguar CD+G
March 20, 2014, 09:26:42 AM
I was wondering about the Jaguar CD unit after commenting in the introductions section.

Anyhow, though I don't own a CD unit for my Jag, I know some of you do. The question is this:

Have you used the CD+G capabilities?

Back in those heady days, karaoke was BIG and Atari gave a nod to this by making the Jag CD attachment compatible with the biggest karaoke format ever, compact disc plus graphics. It is more common nowadays to make consoles multi-functional, for example the PS2 could play DVD's and it's successor can handle Blu-Rays but what about the Jag CD, dare you admit using it as a karaoke machine and not in a bad way?

Introductions / Hello...
March 05, 2013, 08:31:23 AM
Hi,

I can't remember how I stumbled upon this site but I often do random searches for info on Atari games and consoles. Yes, I am a big fan of the name synonymous with gaming, Atari, well their games and consoles that is.

I have been around for a few years, owned and played many 2600 games back in the day. I later moved up to an Atari 800 XL and subsequent 130 XE (I still have this). Nowadays, I own and try to collect good games for my Jaguar console though, as other fans will know, this is expensive.

My all-time favourite arcade game was Crystal Castles and if I ever win the lottery, I will get a full sized cabinet to place where the TV currently sits  ;D

I look forward to getting to know some of you better and I will be at the retro show in Wolverhampton in May.
