Yup! I haven't been around for awhile - but life has settled down and I'm starting to lurk again - I think it's great as is.

Neat, thanks for posting this!  Years ago I used the ECS to access the sprites from the cartridge, but I never could get the 'reset' glitch to work.

If I remember correctly Nintendo was suing those rental stores trying to get them to stop renting NES games.  A quick search found an article to back this up:

@jdanddiet - I know exactly what you mean, hitting the ball the wrong way can result in serious laughter!  My dad used to love Sea Battle but at the time it was way over my head   Did you ever play bi-planes on Triple Action? That's another great 2 player one.

@TrekMD - Whoa cool I'm guessing it's a homebrew one?  I'll have to check it out.

It's so weird to me that the NES wasn't well received over there, I just can't get my head around it!  I understand the reasons but it's so ingrained in U.S. culture I feel like I'm looking at a parallel universe when you talk about it.

Really?  Wow I'd love to hear your perspective.   Here's mine:
At the time I was playing an aging Intellivision and A8.  Once I saw the likes of Zelda and Metroid nothing in my current library could compare to the graphics or gameplay experience.  It was an affordable alternative to the awesome ST and Amiga computers which I would never be able to purchase.

SMS, 7800, and whatever else I'm forgetting hadn't arrived yet.  NES was the first one on the scene.

So a UK publication, dealing with a UK home micro and conversion to it, but front cover does'nt use UK name.

Like i said earlier, looks like someone keen to crack the markets other than UK, which, let me be crystal clear, is fine, i understand 100% the magazine, as does any other, needs to reach a mass market to survive, but please, a little honesty from the publisher please, say that.It's nothing to be ashamed of...unlike re-writing UK NES history.....


 

Wow that's really interesting.  Being a US reader I was surprised how many titles retained the name across both continents.  Now I see how mislead I've been!

I just had you down as a retro gamer with better taste!  :21:  Well, how did you propose I get a taste for the system?  Like I said, I never had one before.  Needed to get one to see what the fuss was all about!    So far I'm hating how arcade ports are not like the games they are supposed to be porting.  There are exceptions, of course, but it is clearly a recurring thing with the system.
