My upscaler also turned up, with mixed results.

My SNES works fine at 60hz, don't like it at 720p or 1080p though, for some reason my TV doesn't give me an option to change the aspect ration to 4:3. So while the pictures fine, it's stretched.
Is has an option to run it at 1024x768, which does the job, but as a result gives me less options to control colour etc.

Does not like the Mega Drive at 60hz though, some games work, some do weird things. Sonic works fine at 60hz when plugged straight into my TV, though the upscaler, it goes a bit nutty and flashy...

Slight update.

Did a 60hz mod on my Mega Drive tonight and it works on my TV, no sign of corruption.
So I tried out my SNES on the living room TV, really should have done that earlier, and it seems to work fine. So I do think it's just my TV being special.

Hoping this upscaler does the trick.

1 guy on another forum had a similar problem and solved it by using an upscaler.
So I've ordered myself a CKITZE BG-460 from Amazon. If I'm lucky, it could be here by the end of the month.

Maybe when he's been a good boy and plays games at 60hz, he'll deserve to be cleaned!  :33:

Well, I got it done.

Region lock works great, I can now play my 1 and only American game.  :111:

But I've got a problem with the 60hz switch.
Machine works fine in 50Hz mode

But once I switch to 60Hz, the picture goes jagged.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I'm using a RGB scart cable (PAL) from http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/

I got my SNES apart tonight, thought I had the right security bit, but was proven wrong. So after 10 minutes with a mini-rotary tool and an old flathead screwdriver, I finally managed to get in.

Poor girls seen better days, only 3 of the screw placements were undamaged.

But I'm looking at Mmonkeys guide.
http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/snes-5060hz-s ... ut-switch/

And I'm a little confused at this bit.

QuoteDepending on  your exact console model, the layout of the board might be different to the photographs in this guide.  AND... there are some later motherboard revisions that can't be modified with this standard 50/60Hz switch, the PPU chips are combined – usually called a 1 chip ppu

I've taken a picture of my mainboard, now I can see 2 PPU chips, does that mean I'm o.k to proceed?

Shame this isn't out in time for mothers day.
She had a serious addiction to Lemmings on the SNES back in the day, couldn't even get near my Amiga when I bought the sequel . :35:

Quote from: "Akuza"Damn that must have been expensive! I know most AES neo geo games are like £150 + per game!

Wasn't cheap, but the games I have aren't exactly rare, and most of them are Japanese, which generally work out cheaper. I bought it off Ebay for £400, that was for the console + 7 games.

Most expensive game in the collection there is Pulstar on the MVS, cost me £130! :13:

As for region, if you change the BIOS to a Universe BIOS you can easier change the region of the machine. I don't have 1 on my AES, but I do have 1 on my MVS, since it was such a simple job to change it.

I'm hoping to mod my Snes and Mega drive, add 60Hz and region switches.
I'm hoping to follow the guides on http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/
Silly question, if I perform these mods on my UK SNES, and also widen the slow, will it allow me to play American carts?

My main question is what kind of tools will I require.
I have an old 40W soldering iron, but the tips a bit of a brick, so I was talking to another guy at work who repairs tablets and phones and he recommend this kind of iron to me.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/60W-Soldering ... 485b5ae329

What's the best way to make holes in the casing, some sort of mini-rotary tool?

Also where about can I get the actually components I need? Such as the switches and the screws to hold them in place?

I appreciate any help.

Hi all.

Here's some pics of my collection.

I started collecting Neo Geo just over a year ago. Here's my AES, it's boxed up at the moment.

And here's my MVS Box  :P
From it's humble beginnings.

To the "finished" product, definitely not every bodies cup of tea, she ain't pretty, but she works.

The power supply is below the board, hence the extra procaution of the cooling fan at the back, 12V fan, but I run it at 5V to keep the noise down.

My Neo Geo game collection.

My Mega Drive and SNES collection, I'm in the process of putting them all into UGC's, slow going at the moment though, since I suck at photoshop.

My little gaming area, I would get a CRT, but I'm completely out of room.

And finally my cabinet, nothing special, flatpack cabinet with a PC inside running Hyperspin and various emulators.
Excuse the bad photo's on this 1, the marquee isn't as retina burning in person.

Hello, I'm Darren from SE England.

Been playing consoles from an early age, my old man had a Colecovision with an Atari addon. I soon gradulated to my own ZX Spectrum +2 and went on from there.
In my golden years, I had quite a selection of Mega Drive and Super Nintendo games, but sold nearly all of them at boot sales and markets to raise cash to purchase a Nintendo 64, damn my mate for letting me play Mario 64!
I know the Nintendo 64 is a great console, but I've never really forgiven myself for selling all those games.

Many many years later, I built an arcade cabinet, nothing fancy, a pre-fabricated cabinet, wired it up and had it running various emulators, but then the dreams started.
Sounds weird, but I started having dreams about the 1 that got away, no not the girl...the console! I started having dreams about going into a shop and looking for Neo Geo games.
I could never afford an AES back in the day, just by looking at the price of the games in magazines, I knew better then to ask my parents. I read the reviews, I played their arcade counter-parts, but I never dreamed of owning one.

So, just over a year ago, in rather sudden and wallet tightening move, I bought a Neo Geo AES with several games.
My sudden arrival in the Neo Geo world prompted some research and I found about the MVS system, and just as quickly as my AES arrived, so did his MVS brother.
I took to collecting MVS games since they're generally a lot cheaper, and after a year, I have a nice little collection.

But I still lamented the loss of my old Sega and Nintendo collection, I looked longely at ebay auctions, though held off, not wanted to go deeper down the rabbit hole, but my brother, sensing my tortured soul, told the family and they bought me a Sega Mega Drive with some games for Christmas.

Which brings me to the present, I dusted off the old SNES and brought what few games were left, out of storage. My collection is only a shadow of it's former glory, but I hope to change that.
