Title: 2nd Console Generation Style Games on Sega Genesis
Post by: poundlander on October 26, 2021, 18:37:16 PM
Been shopping this idea around.  Would anyone be interested in 2nd Generation /pre NES style games on the sega genesis?

Meaning:
* Gameplay over consuming content
* Game variations and endless stages over static levels
* Focus on unique, simple style over dazzling sound and graphics

We already have 80meg Paprium and a back catalogue from Treasure, Konami, etc.. is there any interest in something different?

I’m not sure of the market, what’s the feedback been like?

That appeals to me but not sure how many people will say the same.

I've made similar queries in the past.  I'm feeling people are more receptive to pre NES gameplay on newer systems.  People who have published titles haven't spoken up.  Maybe because in previous years they've indicated it's an idea that doesn't sell.  Some assume I'm going to make yet another slightly spiffed up remaster of an existing game.

The risk in developing games as a lone developer is sinking lots of time and money trying to reproduce results of a AAA studio like Konami.  By making different games perhaps we can enjoy something new.
