Yes it's another one of these! There's a ton of these handhelds being released with emulators on them, but this one is a bit different. This one actually has interchangeable cartridges from various publishers. Legal and no need for Roms.

https://evercade.co.uk/
Prices and currently announced games in the link above and it's supposed to be released later this year. Not sure if I'll get one yet but I'm definitely interested.
-
I got an email about this myself. It does looks cool because it uses cartridges.
-
It looks cool. I actually have high hopes for this one if priced correctly.

Looks indeed good. 4.3" is too small for me though, I still have some JXD consoles lying around, and the bigger 7" s7300 is a really good handheld, absolutely love it.
Console pricing is 69.99€ plus one cartridge. Definitely gonna follow it, that's affordable.

Thats the good thing about it, the price.
-
New info today! Pre-orders start next Friday the 6th and they also announced a black version of the handheld that will be exclusive to Funstock in the UK. They will ship worldwide though if anyone outside the UK doesn't want the white model.
Actual release date isn't till 20th of March 2020.

-
This looks so cool.
-
Well I just pre-ordered one. ;D
There are no retailers in Canada so I was concerned about the shipping cost but it was really cheap so I went for it. I got the limited edition black one with the three game bundle. Now I just have to wait till March!
-
Cool! I got three emails about this today.
-
Cool! I got three emails about this today.
Me too, but I'm out, kinda like it, but I would never use it, screen is definitely too small for me.

Will do!

New cartridge revealed today.

I'm not a huge Double Dragon fan, but the rest of the games on this would be cool to have.
-
Nice set of games. So, this is a different collection?
-
Yeah, all of the cartridges for this are multi game collections. Not bad for under $20 each.
-
This is looking nicer by the day.
-
Less than two months till launch and this just keeps getting better. Today they announced an Atari Lynx collection with 17 games, including some Songbird titles.
Full list and details here (https://evercade.co.uk/announce-atari-lynx-cartridge/). With the HDMI out you will even be able to play these on your TV.
Can't wait to get mine!
-
Yes this is looking better and better.
Really impressed with the lengths they are going to.
-
Oh wow, that is awesome!
-
Metal Jesus has done a review of the Evercade...
https://youtu.be/hHOchWVYe-E
-
Yeah I've seen a couple good reviews. Sounds like the only negative is the HDMI out feature, it connects straight to the console and without a dock or anything.
Unfortunately it's now been delayed till May 22nd because of the manufacturing delays out of China. Damn coronavirus!
-
does seem to be hitting all the right spots.
-
There's a delay in release due to, you guessed it, COVID-19. I just got this today...
-----------------------------------------------
Funstock
An Update.
Hi,
We would like to take this opportunity to update you on the release date of Evercade.
With the continued external challenges surrounding COVID-19, there will be a minor final delay.
This final delay is the final stage of the process. Stock is now on it’s way to retailers across the globe.
Once this stock arrives with the retailers, it will be sent out locally from each retailer to you. This process will likely take another 1-2 weeks on top of the 22nd of May release date we were targeting.
What this means.
This means that the new release date is now a release window. We had tried to achieve a simultaneous global release date, however, the external challenges have made this nigh-on impossible and our focus now is on delivering the stock to you, simply as fast as we can. Without any imposed embargoes surrounding a ‘release date’.
Our commitment to you, the customer, is to get the Evercade to you as fast as possible. This means that some people will get it sooner than others. We apologise for this. But we also strongly believe this is the right strategy.
Our focus is on getting you your console as fast as possible.
With this in mind. The release window will be:
22nd May – 5th June
Please note: this is based on typical delivery times from couriers. A lot of countries are experiencing further delays on top of the normal expected service – of which, we have no control.
This means some customers will potentially receive their stock, in-line with our ‘release date’ and others (due to the retailers needing to ship these locally, in a very challenging environment) it could potentially be as late as the 5th June.
We thank you all for your continued support and for sticking with us.
In more positive news
We will be announcing a new cartridge in May, with an additional cartridge to be announced in June, which would mean we have 14 cartridges in total for 2020.
– Evercade
-
The only negative for me is still the very small screen. That's why I lately (last several years) stay completely away from handhelds.
-
A larger screen would be nice for sure but the added cost would probably hurt sales. The low price of this is one of it's best selling points.
As for the delay, it's just shipping time. I've waited this long, I can wait another week or two. :)
-
The low price of this is one of it's best selling points.
For some perhaps yes, but maybe a lot of people won't buy it exactly because of the small screen, like me. Difficult to please everyone I guess. The price is quite low, but only for the console itself, cartridges being 20$ each is steep.
-
Where are you lot ordering from?
-
I ordered mine from Funstock. I think they're the only ones who have the black model but I see other retailers have been added and they're selling the white one.
-
Here's a review of the Evercade!
https://youtu.be/IwozJMggTIQ
-
I’m proper interested in this now. I can only say they really have done a good job on this.
-
I preordered the black one. It looks sharp. Really looking forward to it!
-
John Hancock has also posted a video of the Evercade. Have a watch...
https://youtu.be/UacE4V8sxec
-
Game Sack has also reviewed the Evercade but this review isn't as positive...
https://youtu.be/XUNDlyIcy8w
-
I guess you will never please everyone mate.
For me its awesome for the concept alone.
-
Yes, but I wanted to share the review anyway. Helps to have both perspectives.
-
Totally agree bud, I suspect the thing has loads of negatives but lets see because I can only see the positives at the moment.
-
My only concern from watching the second video is that there appear to be some emulation issues. Those should be fixable with firmware updates, though. The other complaints were mostly about the game libraries themselves and that I don't care about. That's pure opinion and not some factual like the emulation sound issues that were noted during the video.
-
Another cartridge was announced today, Atari Lynx Collection 2!
It will be released later this year with the following games:
California Games
Todd’s Adventures in Slimeworld
Electro Cop
Gates of Zendocon
Zarlor Mercenary
Blue Lightning
Chips Challenge
Checkered Flag
-
Yes, I got an email (well, two) about that! Very cool. :)
-
Great addition to this.
-
So being an early adopter is not always a good thing.
I pre-ordered day one from Funstock in the UK. At the time that was the only place selling them. Now there's a Canadian retailer selling them and for whatever reason they received their stock before anyone else, and they are now shipping. So I could have waited and ordered it locally and had it next week. Meanwhile, the boat with Funstock's shipment hasn't even arrived yet. . .
I understand the delay but still pretty disappointing that people ordering today will get it a couple weeks before I do. :(
-
Well, that's interesting and unfortunate.
-
Yes it is unfortunate. I could probably cancel my order and get one here but then I wouldn't get the black one. Guess I'll just have to wait.
-
That’s a real shame and should not happen. That’s a negative for sure.
-
I ordered the black one as well. Given that's a limited edition, I'd wait for it. This whole mess with COVID-19 is just affecting everything!!!
-
That’s a real shame and should not happen. That’s a negative for sure.
I ordered the black one as well. Given that's a limited edition, I'd wait for it. This whole mess with COVID-19 is just affecting everything!!!
Oh for sure I understand delays because of the virus, but I still think they are handling this very poorly. Funstock was the only retailer who was there day one. If sales had flopped no other retailer would have signed on. Regardless of delays, they should have made sure that Funstock received their shipment first. Even if that meant other retailers and countries had to wait a little while longer. Take care of the people who took a chance and put down money last year.
That said, I don't know to do. I really do like the look of the black one better but when will I get it? According to the latest email my order should ship in the next two weeks. With all the delays in shipping from outside the country it will probably be another month after that before I actually see it. That's late June and I could have plain white one next week. . .
-
You make a good point that if Funstock was the first retailer, why are they not getting it first? Could it be a matter of volume? Maybe they have a larger volume of orders and that is delaying their shipment further? Perhaps the Canadian retailer ordered fewer units and they chose to send those first. I'm just guessing but even that would not be the best thing to do.
-
Yeah I assume it's a volume issue like you said. Still not right but not much I can do about it.
-
Well, I went the crazy route and ordered a second one before the first has even arrived lol.
I'll probably just leave the black one sealed and keep it as a collectible. Who knows, it could be worth something some day. I have a couple more games coming with the other one too so I just got the starter pack plus the Piko collection.
Played it a bit last night and I really like it. Only complaint is the cartridges are REALLY tight! Putting them in isn't too bad but taking them out I though I was gonna break the thing. The cartridges need to be trimmed a little so they aren't so wide. Otherwise I like the size and the weight of it and the d-pad and buttons all feel good. :)
-
Cool! Glad you like the system! :)
-
Glad you like it mate. Whats the load times like?
-
There's a couple logos that come up when you first turn it on but after that it's just like playing a cartridge on an old console. Everything is pretty much instant.
-
I got my tracking info for my Evercade!!!
-
Cool!
My other one is on it's way now too. Watch it show up really quick now lol.
-
My other one is on it's way now too. Watch it show up really quick now lol.
But of course! Murphy's Law! They KNEW you had bought one already! LOL
-
Lol, anyone want to do an article for the main page?
-
Sorry Zap, I wouldn't even know where to begin writing an article. :-\
Another new cartridge was announced today!
Treasure Island Dizzy
BMX Simulator
Fantastic Dizzy
Super Robin Hood
Go! Dizzy Go!
Dizzy The Adventurer
Panic Dizzy
DreamWorld Pogie
FireHawk
Wonderland Dizzy
Mystery World Dizzy
All of the profits from this release are going to charity too which is very nice of them!
-
Yes, got the emails about that. I love the idea that the sales of this cart go to charity.
-
Couple more games arrived!
I have to admit when I first saw they were doing Namco collections I said pass, just cause I assumed it would have the same games that have been on every Namco collection since the PS1. Once I saw the list of games though I was pleasantly surprised. There are the classics for sure but there's a lot of games that I've never seen on their collections before.
-
Cool! Looks like my Technos cartridge will be arriving before the console! I can thank COVID-19 for that! LOL
-
Pre-orders are now open for the next two Evercade games, The Oliver Twins Collection and the Xeno Crisis & Tanglewood cart. They aren't shipping till October but I ordered them just in case there's a large demand.
My Funstock order finally came in this week too!
-
Glad to see your Funstock order arrived! I also preordered those two carts. Now waiting to see when the Lynx carts become available. :)
Here is a pretty thorough review of the Evercade...

A firmware update was released yesterday for the Evarcade. From the email they sent:

- Brave Battle Saga on Piko Collection 1 – Crash condition is fixed.
- Little Medusa on Mega Cat Collection 1 – Crash condition is fixed.
- Menu “Bloop” sound can now be turned off.
- FW version added in the Main Menu.
- More robust save states function for when the unit is turned off.
- Note: This update includes all 1.1a button mapping fixes.
Get the update here: New Firmware 1.2.0 (https://www.evercade.co.uk/new-firmware-1-2-0/?utm_source=sendinblue&utm_campaign=Evercade__New_Firmware_Available&utm_medium=email)
-
I still never did the first update but I might do this one. Looks easy enough.
I wonder if they will put new firmware updates on future game cartridges? They did that with the Neo Geo X so technically it must be possible.
-
From the Evarcade page:
Atari Lynx 1 and 2 Evercade Cartridges – Pre-Order Date Confirmed
Pre-orders for 2 new Evercade cartridges will open from midnight (local time) on the 30th July 2020. They will be available to order from the same retailers you have purchased Evercade cartridges in the past. Some may not have the listings live in time, but they will be available for launch.
Stock will not be limited in the market, but will be limited per retailer – so if you have a preferred retailer, we strongly recommend pre-ordering.
The cartridges will release on the 6th November 2020
-
Get that review done @TrekMD lol
-
Looks like somebody jumped the gun on the Lynx Collections pre-order. Weren't supposed to go up till tomorrow but you can order now, which I just did. :)
-
Yep, I noticed. I, of course, wasted no time. :)
-
Well, now I'm pissed. Amazon just cancelled my order for Xeno Crisis & Tanglewood and The Oliver Twins Collection carts. I wonder where I can order these from?
-
Funstock?
-
I ran a few searches and found them there. Now I have to wonder if my other preorders on Amazon may get cancelled.
-
That's too bad. Did they give you a reason why they cancelled them?
I ordered mine from here https://www.videogamesplus.ca/evercade-c-1136.html
-
They said they were not going to be able to get them. I did try to order tom VideoGamesPlus but the cart kep adding two of the same game and never added the other! I have no idea what the heck was going on, so I just ended up ordering from Funstock.
I hope Amazon doesn't do the same thing for the Lynx collections!
-
Well, Amazon did it again. Now they cancelled my order for the Atari Lynx carts. I'm ordering them from Funstock.
-
Yeah I saw some other people complaining about this on Twitter. Strange they keep doing this.
Also saw this earlier - https://twitter.com/evercaderetro/status/1301108865245863936 I'd buy a console version for sure. Online connectivity would be what I want to see. Part of the fun in playing old arcade games is going for high scores so having leaderboards would be great.
-
A console Evercade would be a fascinating thing!
-
Forgot to post this yesterday, two more game collections are coming to the Evercade next year.

-
Oh yes! I meant to post it as well. Glad you did. :)
-
Another new cartridge was announced yesterday. This one is all about new indie games for retro consoles. This is a neat idea, looking forward to it.

They are on fire.
-
Yes, I got this message too! They don't say when it is coming but the mix of games is nice! I am not preordering this from Amazon. Not after they cancelled two of my orders.
-
https://youtu.be/cEp8FmHs2qc
Metal Jesus was sent the 4 upcoming Evercade cartridge compilations, which include two volumes of Atari Lynx games and made this video to show how they came out. Even though most folks probably have the real games in their collection, it's cool to see the Atari Lynx get more mainstream love like this. Also.. it's neat that the Evercade also supports the Left/Right hand feature of the Lynx too.
Cartridge 1 is mostly 17 Songbird Production licensed titles like:
Crystal Mines II
Dracula The Undead
Gordo 106
Loopz
Power Factor
Super Asteroids / Super Missile Command
Scrapyard Dog
Super Skweek
Xump
Cartridge 2 are all Epyx games:
California Games
Chips Challenge
Checkered Flag
Todd’s Adventures in Slimeworld
Electro Cop
Gates of Zendocon
Zarlor Mercenary
Blue Lightning
-
I'm looking forward to these Lynx carts. I have some of the original games but not all of them and it will be nice to play them on a better screen.
-
This gets better and better.
-
I got my shipping confirmation for the Oliver Twins and Xeno/Tanglewood carts. Should get them next week!
-
Mine are on their way. I expect them next week. :)
-
John Hancock has released a video looking at the Evercade...

Two more collections have just been announed: Jaleco #1 and Piko #2.
Piko Collection 2 Cartridge includes 13 classic games including Top Racer 2, Soccer Kid, Racing Fever, and Brutal Sports Football.
Jaleco Collection 1 Cartridge includes 10 classic games including Brawl Brothers, Astynax, and Rival Turf.
-
I think I'm going to hold off pre-ordering these. I'll buy them eventually after they get released next year but there's nothing on these two collections that I'm that excited about.
The latest two carts arrived last week so I played some Xeno Crisis and some of the Dizzy games over the weekend. :)
-
Well they announced another new cartridge today.
I know some people are big fans of this series, and I realize it's a lot more popular in the UK and Europe, but I'm disappointed with this one. I've never been a huge Worms fan to begin with and with only 3 games on this cart it's just not a good deal. I will be skipping this one.
-
I got emails about this game today. I think I'm with you there.
-
They are certainly knocking some great games out.
-
Lynx carts have arrived! I know what I'm doing this weekend. :)
-
Got this on an email. This is the final announcement for 2020.
Codemasters Collection 1
We are so excited to be able to announce our last collection of 2020 and its a collection filled with classics from legendary British developer, Codemasters. Featuring 17 games; including Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder, Big Nose Freaks Out, and many more.
Evercade can also exclusively reveil that previously unreleased title will also be part of the collection, Tennis All-Stars
Read more details here: Codemasters Collection 1 Cartridge for Evercade (https://www.evercade.co.uk/codemasters-collection-1-cartridge/?utm_source=sendinblue&utm_campaign=Evercade__Codemasters_Announcement_Consumer&utm_medium=email)
-
I really need to invest in an Evercade. So many great games on one system. I am a big fan of Cannon Fodder on the 3DO and my Atari Lynx collection is pitiful. Easier to buy the Evercade and get all the games on one handheld. The battery life sounds pretty good. Best part for me is changing cartridges. May seem silly in 2021 but cart changing is a huge part of my past and that simple feature is priceless to me, an old school gamer.
Very cool announcement!
-
This particular cartridge has tons of games! Looking forward to it.
-
You would like it Ice. It's a well built system and there's lots of great games for it. Not too expensive either.
-
Thanks Shadowrunner. It does seem like this has been a thought out game system release with good support for the future.
-
I just ordered one and 11 game sets.. Will feedback my thoughts soon.
-
It will be great to hear your thoughts, Zapiy.
You have all been a bad influence on me. LOL. I bought one and it just arrived yesterday. Have not had a chance to try it out yet. Hoping soon.
-
I'm starting to get REALLY tempted, seeing all those awesome cartridges getting released. I only have one major problem, if I'm gonna get one, I would need to also get ALL the cartridges, it is just like that, but being in these forums, with a lot of people like me, I guess you understand my problem ;)
-
At least, these carts don't break the bank. They cost $20 usually. Given that most have several games, it is a good deal.
-
So far my experience with the Evercade has been positive. Just wishful thinking but it would be cool if they could somehow release Odyssey 2 or Videopac carts.
-
Hmm, I wonder that will ever happen. The system surely is capable of playing the games but I wonder if there is enough interest for them to pursue Odyssey 2 games.
-
It might be a long shot. Most were just interpretations of games found on other consoles of the time. The K.C. Munchkin titles and the game Turtles were munching maze games but different enough to enjoy playing. Turtles was a Konami game so that might be a stretch to get a release.
The Evercade having Atari games is a win win for everyone. Wonder if Colecovision and Intellivision game cartridges might appear some day?
-
The Evercade having Atari games is a win win for everyone. Wonder if Colecovision and Intellivision game cartridges might appear some day?
I do wonder! That'd be cool.
-
I am sure they are working on many games...
-
I love different retro games, so I downloaded the PSX BIOS for myself so that I could freely play my favorite games on my PC. Downloaded everything here (https://roms-download.com/bios/psx-playstation-bios-scph1001-bin)

More stuff coming for the Evercade...

Awesome, I need to collect a couple more.
-
Yeah I'm looking forward to this one. I will be playing Astrosmash for hours!
-
This is great news. So glad to see these titles coming.
