The Sega Master System was the console Sega launched to pit against the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in Japan, America, Europe, Australia and other regions. It wasn't the original console which went up against the Nintendo Famicom; that honor went to the SG 1000; however, it's weak abilities meant Sega needed something bigger, something better. The Master System was meant to be that console and, although technically superior in many ways, it was late to the market in most regions. Europe, Brazil and Australia were regions, however, where the console succeeded and succeeded well. This video explores the early years of Sega Enterprises, through the 70s, 80s, 90s and even present day where the Master System still enjoys a continued audience courtesy of TecToy.

Has anyone watched this? It's fascinating to see how things worked out for Sega in Europe. Timing really is everything!
Sure is mate.. great video by the way.
Yes it is. It was interesting to see how Sega was able to take the European market by storm with the Master System. The system is really good and did outperform the NES. Too bad it didn't get the love it deserved in the US.
This was interesting to watch. It focuses on the story of the Master System 3, specifically, and all its clones. Have a watch...
