Title: Arcade PCB collectors?
Post by: Deckard on June 13, 2015, 09:13:32 AM
I am considering getting a Supergun to run original arcade boards at home. Any PCB collectors here?

One of our members, @arcadeaction, has a nice set up at his house.  I'm not sure if he has a Supergun.

Too expensive mate, I don't plan on getting to deep into it. In order to justify a Cab purchase i will be selling 25% of my retro gear, 25% being that i don't really like or use.

I have 3 Slot one boards that are faulty, picked them up for £40 and i hope a simple fix.. anyone here that could fix them can keep one for doing it.

Still, can just grab a few classics that resonate with you and leave it at that!
Man I spent so much money in my twenties running around being an idiot I could have a huge collection by
now but i suppose life gets in the way lol

I've got a few arcade boards, but like Zapiy said it's an expensive business to get into and their fragile as hell. The MVS carts are bullit proof though and I have about 12 original plus a 161-1 multicart. I play them in a four slot MVS cab.

On the PCB side I have an original Double Dragon, Cps2 Super Street Fighter, some bootlegs like Tetris, SnowBros, Euroleague and some multi game Jamma boards.

The other option is get a Jamma cab and a Jpac and connect up a Mame PC. Jamma cabs are Mame ready, no need to mod or rip out Looms or Crts. Just add a Jac from https://www.ultimarc.com/jpac.html (https://www.ultimarc.com/jpac.html) and your ready to go. Get a front end like Mala or Hyperspin and you can boot into a menu screen ready to play your favourite games...

Great collection Vader! I thought about getting a supergun once, but like everyone else is saying the cost held me back. I do plan on buying a MVS converter for my Neo Geo soon though.

Nice little collection! I set up a Hyperspin a few years ago with everything but the kitchen sink but I find it a little overwhelming to have so much choice.
The bootleg boards i have seeen look noticebly less robust, how do you store your PCBs?

I have a little list I want to get that would probably cost me a £1000 or so!
Trojan, Bionic Commando, Ghosts Goblins,Mikie, Haunted Castle, Wonderboy Monster Land,Rastan

Ok I gotta go and earn some money!

Best place to buy a cab in the UK is from a Arcade forum like UKVac or Jamma Plus. Lots of advice too and honest descriptions of the Arcade Cabinet. The Picade is a Kickstarter Bartop from Pimoroni.

Whenever I replace a laptop screen for work they get shipped in these storage boxes - Decent protection for PCBS.

I've got about 130 PCBs, hard to store mostly due to size. Maybe I'll get around to listing what I have soon :D
