Might as well be this one! New deliveries today, first up is Winter Olympics which is one of the rarer Klixx classic titles, only amazing thing about it is the dark case, looks odd on the shelf that's for sure. Second was Line of Fire which is meant to be a really good light gun game but the case is stained with coffee on the back cover, the seller didn't mention that in the auction, just classed it as being in good condition. Complaints ahead. Plus a quick shot of how the collection looks so far:

Wow, i really am looking forward to watching that collection grow and that shelf slowly fill.
For me i doubt i will ever collect an entire games catalogue for a system, i buy to many systems.
Im looking forward to seeing this collection grow too.
Good luck with it!
Very nice. Looking forward to seeing the collection grow.
These arrived and just giving them the usual scrub down on the contacts before playing. Heard lots of good things about Putt & Putter, I only bought the Flash because it was £20 which seemed cheaper than all the other BINs on eBay.

I didn't know there was a game based on The Flash for the SMS! That's cool.
It plays incredibly well and the speed is fantastic.
Put & Putter looks amazing, my type of game that lol.
Nice. Games I never knew existed on Master System.
Nice pile of games arrived this morning:

Another nice haul.
Are you using the usual sources i.e. Ebay, Gumtree etc, or have you got some sources tapped up from your NES collecting days?
Whats the grand total of PAL SMS releases for a complete collection?
Just eBay and forums. There's about 279 games I think.
Coming along nicely, Lorfarius.
What was the damage on that lot pal and how much as this cost you so far if you don't mind me asking. Be interesting to know what kind of money this ends up costing.
AKidd was £16
Streets of Rage - £13
SCI - £9
Batman Returns - £7
Dragon Crystal - £6
All pretty cheap really, rpices tend to bounce around a bit at those levels.Â
Out of all of them AKidd is the best game, really fun action platformer. SOR is an amazing port of the MD classic, the music isn't perfect but its as close as could be expected and its surprising just how good it looks. My fav to play out of the lot is Batman Returns which works really well but sadly has a ridiculous 1 hit to die system and is way too difficult.
Couple of carts today:

I remember hating the Ninja when I was a kid, was convinced the only way to finish it was with the rapid fire accessory. Think I dropped £15 on one before realising it was a waste of time!
The Ninja was what poor kids got for Christmas instead of Sonic or Asterix
Luckily Enduro Racer was there to take away the pain!

Finally caved and bought a modded SMS2 from ConsolePassion. It has an AV and region switchless doohickey with an added light, build wise its a great job and works a treat. The system had Alex Kidd in Miracle World built in but once I switched it to 60hz mode I was a bit disappointed. The thing moves like shit off a shovel and sounds way too fast to my ears, I'm way too used to the 50hz speed so I will have to see how I get on.

Lol you are mad, what did that set you back?
I can't quite make that out, can you get a bigger picture?

£63 including shipping. Also had this arrive today:

It's a really weird rpg/platformer with a Japanese vibe. With it pinching another game and replacing the main characters like Mario Bros 2 I always wondered if Sega were taking their steps to copy Nintendo's success to a whole other level. I picked this up when I was about 8 years old and it became my fav game for a couple of years, I would spend hours if not days and weeks exploring its world and everything it had to throw at you. I can't even recall if it was a good game or not!
New game arrived today, got this from Cash Convertors (online) for a couple of quid. Was expecting it to be just the usual licensed drivel but its actually not a bad game!

Thats actually a great price, hows the everdrive?
The collections building up now. I'm enjoying seeing your additions, keep it upÂ

Btw, are you going for CIB collection here?
Yep CIB all the way.Â
Everdrive has arrived but I don't have a suitable SD card that fits itÂ

Ordered one from Amazon so should be here shortly.

This arrived today, been on the lookout for it for awhile.
Thats one awesome game...
It's load of fun. In other news... one of the best RPGs ever made arrived today, it usually sells for £30 plus but I managed to get my hands on it for £20:

Rastan was ace in the arcade but I'm not familiar with the SMS version. How does it hold up to the arcade version?
Great price. How did you manage that? Just lucky?
Part trade. I had a spare manual for Micro Machines which seem to go for an arm and a leg on ebay.
Collection looks great!
I had no idea the number of PAL titles that were released for the SMS. Here in the States, we were shafted. I'm glad they will play region free but shipping costs would limit me.
Probably best doing it in bundles for that distance.
That is good advice. Thanks again for sharing the pictures of your growing collection. I enjoy seeing the artwork. I miss the old days when you could tell a game system by the shape of its box, case or artwork.
Different colored cases are just not same.
Trip to town to spend Xmas money and got a nice little haul today:

Nice!
I loved World Games on the Commodore 64. Great to see the Master had a release.
Big things on the way! Sold my Wii U (thing just wasn't getting used) so spent a nice pile of cash on some rares. Add to that a deal I've made with another collector for a huge pile of rares.
First lot of deliveries today. Ollifants is a weird one, the Classics edition is pretty rare and often sells for £20-£30 yet the original never seems to go much beyond £15. Yet looking back at auctions the last one sold went for about a tenner in October. No listings since then yet I saw this copy for 12.99 BIN so had to grab it. As a game it is pretty poor reminds me of that Rolo game on the Mega Drive with a weird mix of Robocod thrown in.
Alien 3 looks more like Super Metroid and is a lot of fun.
Couple of nice finds there Keith.
Sensi wasn't bad at £13 but cheaper than every other seller so not a bad deal, Indy was cheap at £4 but from what I told that's not a good thing

Pretty annoyed Secret Command, was described good as new and looked it in the auction pictures which also showed the manual. What turned up was that tat above, missing manual and brown stains all over the case not to mention the torn plastic and paper cover down the spine. Awful state so back for a refund.
Two out of three ain't bad. It is nice to see your collection growing. Thanks for sharing these as I was unaware of the Indiana Jones game.
Be better to pretend it doesn't exist, it's woeful to play. Annoying really as it looks pretty good but the hit detection is a mile off. I'd have been pretty upset to get this at full price as a kid!
The artwork on the case caught my eye. Too bad the game has little value other then for a collection.
I did enjoy the Atari 2600 Raiders of the Lost Ark and the NES Indiana Jones games were good but still a let down. Not sure if there were any good Indy Jones games besides the arcade version.
Nice pile of games today:

The collection is coming along very nicely!
Went to the Retro Collect Market in Leeds this morning. Spent about £150 and pretty pleased with what I got, was hoping to see a Golden Axe Warrior tucked away but it was not meant to be

The best I found was Hulk which is a truly terrible game but sells for £20 up and I saw it for the same in mint condition. Shop was called gunstarheroes and I've met him on a few forums, I spent about £40 and he gave me a couple of Xbox games so very chuffed with the pile!

And now I've run out of shelf space. Wasn't expecting to get so many MS games! I've been hesitant to buy Sega Cards because there's about 10 of them at £25 a piece on eBay but I couldn't resist with Super Tennis being just £10 so looks like I'm going after them now as well!
That's an awesome haul fella.
Wow, that's quite the set of games you got there!Â
Nice! It is neat to see some games have different covers then here in the States. Rampage is a nice change.
Too many damn games after this weekend! I've got a whole pile of Xbox titles to get through but I slowly started on the MS ones.
Incredible Hulk - Not like its name. Weirdly its pretty quick yet the main character is too slow and pondering, you do get to change to Banner at points but it seems to be forced on you. Couldn't get much past the first stage so best say no more  I'm glad I have it because it's one of the expensive rares but don't think it will get much playtime.
Rampage - God this is fun even if a bit easy. On my first go I was able to get through 5 stages before losing a life but it looks great, plays brilliantly and I think is a great port.
Cool Spot - I always wondered why 7Up killed this guy off, he's awesome. The game is really bright and colourful it's such an amazing port of the MD game, if you squint the graphics would fool you into thinking it was on the MD. It's an average platformer but then I wasn't expecting much from it anyway.
Sonic - Not sure why it's taken me so long to play this. Was the only game I had as a kid for 4 months at one point, weird to think that 20 years later the muscle memory for jumps is still there. Great game.
Vigilante - Just feels like an updated version of Kung Fu from the arcade, enemies are cheap and plentiful so ideal arcade fodder. Bit annoying at home.
Altered Beast - I was expecting this to be bad....but not this terrible! The screen is meant to scroll slowly yet it flickers along whilst the enemies fly at you en masse, almost impossible to survive when there's more than a few. It looks great I'll give it that but sadly it doesn't have the "RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE" voice sample. People seem to hate the MD version to but as a kid it was my first ever game for the system. I played it to death and could get through without taking a single hit, leaving me to think it's a great game even after all these years. The MS version is just woeful doesn't matter if its PAL or US the speed makes zero difference.
That's some collection. There are still Sonic fans who swear by the SMS version of Sonic 1, I do think it's criminally overlooked compared to the MD version.
Nice write ups on the games so far fella.
Certainly one of the rarer games as it only pops up every couple of months, especially with manual and box. There's been a few seller that stick silly BIN prices on and I made the seller an offer of £12 (they had it at £10) they turned round and said I could have it for £18 which I felt was too much so said I'd just wait. Placed a bid for £10 and won it without anyone else bidding!
Just need Zaxxon 3-D to complete all the Z's in my full set.
Very cool!Â
That seems pretty cheap for a rare game that doesn't come up that often. Are SMS games not that pricey compared to other retro consoles?

I'm pretty sure the Master System doesn't have near the following compared to the NES, Genesis, etc. Not a lot of people collect for it.
The most expensive games range from £250 to £500 and there's a fair few, so a full set is pretty pricey.

Maybe not in the US, but this side of the pond is a different matter. There's plenty of people out there collecting for the SMS, myself included.

I only really know about collectors here in the US. Generally speaking, the Master System never caught on here and most people don't really collect for it.
I guess it's kinda like how their are far more Original Xbox collectors here versus Europe.

Guy over on another forum was able to transfer some unreleased games onto carts and even did some great designs for them. Just need to add them to some cases and bobs yer uncle

The Mickey Mouse game is similar to Land of Illusion but a bit later with lots of improvements to the previous game and a fun story. Only came out in Brazil so we missed it completely, the rest never received proper releases.
look dead cool there son, back covers are a bit sparse though, bar the hook game, but nicely done , where these expensive?
£25 each but he knocked a bit off because I bought 4 so £95. As far as I can find there's no one else that does them this cheap so pretty good deal.
That's not bad, considering you need a donor cart to start with.
