Title: Let's Compare Outrun
Post by: TrekMD on July 09, 2014, 21:10:40 PM
Out Run is an arcade game released by Sega in 1986 that is a 3D third-person racing game. The player controls a car, a Ferrari Testarossa, from a rear third-person perspective. The player must race to the end of each stage as fast as possible against a time limit while avoiding traffic.  The game offers nonlinear gameplay as well as the choice of music to listen to while driving, represented as radio stations.  The game was ported to a variety of systems and we can see several of those here...

Quite simply one of the greatest games ever made.

The original US Gold conversions to the home computers were all terrible. The we got decent versions for the Mega Drive and PC Engine. Then finally came along the arcade perfect Sega Saturn port and I was in heaven!  :8:

Yes, I was very disappointed with many of those ports.  They were just not good enough.  Agree on the Genesis/MD port, though.  I don't have a Saturn but, from the video, it does look fantastic.
