Title: Weird Handheld Peripherals
Post by: Lorfarius on April 21, 2014, 09:35:40 AM
Thought we could have a place for all those strange and unknown peripherals for systems you may have never seen before.  I'll kick us off as I found this on eBay earlier:

Japanese GameBoy Pocket Sonar by Bandai

This is a rare peripheral for the GameBoy that uses sonar to locate fish underwater for fishermen.
The device can detect fish up to 20 meters deep when placed on the surface of the water.
It provides a readout on the GameBoy screen. There's also a fishing mini-game built in.
It's on eBay for around £85 right now.

Only in Japan would they make a fish finder add-on! Very strange, but still kinda cool.

Unfortunately not, only came out in Germany and is one of the Lynx holy grails along with the Marlboro Team Lynx.

Both of those are awesome and strange at the same time.

I thought the Gameboy and Gamegear clip on magnifiers were weird...until I saw that pocket sonar thing!

I bought a Doso Wireless Controller for my PSP and it was a horrible piece of rubbish.  It looked like a cheap playstation joystick and had the wireless reception of a dead fish.  It required an adapter to an adapter to allow power and data through to the PSP.  I guess the parasitic relationship demanded as many tentacle-like connections as deemed necessary by Cthulhu.
