You have seen the film, bought the merchandise and probably played the flash game online too but what if Wreck It Ralph had appeared on a real retro console?
Well not it has! Prolific homebrewer Future Driver (who also made the rather fun Pringles game) has recreated Disney's classic game on the Sega Mega Drive in true 16-bit style.

As you can see from these screenshots the game looks great and remains very authentic to the game seen in the hit movie. It is 1 megabit in size and can be played with a standard 3 button pad on real hardware via an Everdrive flashcart or on emulators such as Kega Fusion.

The ROM file is available for free from the coders website, which is linked below. For those who cannot wait or want to see more then just watch the video below to see how great this homebrew game is.
Can he fix it?

That is really cool!Â
Nice!
Wonder if someone could use the code for Beauty & the Beast and make an Intellivision version?
Brilliant in every way..
graphics are great but not sure about the sound fx
I have discovered that there are actually two versions of this game for the Genesis/MD. This Future Driver version isn't as complete and the sound effects aren't all quite there. It turns out that the cart version I got is a totally different ROM from a different homebrewer, Airwalk Studios. Have a look at the video of this version (ROM version 1.0 - I have version 1.12, which adds more enhancements)...

Ah nice! I wondered if they shared code though?
Looks like the Airwalk Studios version was coded separately, and the developer only sold 100 carts through private NintendoAge auctions?? A few buyers have resold on ebay. One auction ended at $137 recently and one reseller vermin is offering it at a $300 BIN! (no buyers)
The developer hasn't released the rom and has asked that no one dumps or distributes it. Hopefully he'll make a second run of carts with more advance notice/publicity...
What tom said.Â

The private auction had a lot of restrictions on it. Another one (one of the numbered ones) recently sold for a little over $100 in NA as well. I don't know what the person asking $300 is thinking as they haven't sold anywhere near that price.Â
I just added a review of the game as a featured game review.Â

Excellent stuff!
Brilliant review btw fella..
Any way of contacting these guys for a Dev interview?

Glad you enjoyed it. Contacting these guys for an interview is certainly an interesting question. The person from Airwalk Studios who worked on the game is a member over at Nintendo Age (dra600n), so I may be able to ask him there. I suppose Future Driver can be reached via their web site.Â
Future Driver is Japanese and Airwalk have only really done a few simple games so not sure there is much point.
I dunno fella, this is a slight different idea to the normal interviews. Here i want to test out for a Speak to the Devs, a smaller interview that we do direct rather than open to the forum to give them some airtime that may help promote them and us in return.
Hey guys, I just stumbled upon this thread today, so I figured I would register and answer some of the questions in here :) I may forget to check back here, but you can reach me on NintendoAge, or if you're as old school as me, AIM (dra600n).
Also, your review was great! Thank you for the kind words and compliments towards my version!

I'm glad you liked the review. The compliments are well deserved! I hope we see more of you here and certainly let us know of any new games you may be making!

Guys, the Airwalk version is now available for download in NintendoAge to use with emulators:Â Fix-It Felix Jr. (//http)Â If you can't download it from the link, let me know and I'll ask Adam for permission to post the file here.Â
Thanks for the news! I had to setup a Nintendoage account, but was able to download after that.
And big thanks to dra600n for offering the file! If you have a paypal donation account, I'd make a small contribution...
Got permission to post the file, so you can find it attached below.Â
Thanks for posting the rom here, Trek! I completely forgot about the NintendoAge attachments and that you needed to be registered/logged into see them. I would've hosted it on my site, but I was concerned I'd max out on the bandwidth, and I don't trust many of those file upload sites.
@Tom - I replied to your PM on NintendoAge, thank you! Again, donations aren't necessary, but I know some people don't like that response, so I'm leaving it up to you (if you decide not to, do not worry, I won't be offended!)
I really hope the rest of you enjoy the game! It was a very fun (and sometimes very stressful) project, and even though there's a few things I would change up now, but I'm happy with the end result, and I hope everyone else feels the same
Very cool homebrew, and it plays fine on an Everdrive. Starts to get pretty frantic after the first building as shutters and window planters limit your movement, deadly ducks fly across the screen, and Ralph continues to rain bricks like the Kaboom bomber. Fun!
If you enter the code for marathon mode, you instantly start off with the 3 mallards flying, and the levels get more difficult much quicker. It's also endless, and around level 20 or 30, you start seeing references to other games in the level number

Also, the pies give you a short period of invincibility and also increases fixing windows from 100 points to 200.
Will need to give this a try, would still love it on a cart though.
I can provide a cart only copy if you'd like one, or if you know someone who can make them, feel free to have that person make one for you (I can provide you the artwork to print out the label and clamshell artwork).
Nice offer fella..

I would love one if you are offering! Just let me know how much you want including postage to the UK!Â
You won't regret getting it, Laird. Definitely a great game!
I should have done this earlier. Here are the cheat codes that dra600n had posted for the game:
[Extra Time]: A C C Right Up A Left
[Blood Code]: A B A C A B B
[Marathon Mode]: Down Right A C Up Left A
Oh, one more "code": Hold B and press Start to skip half of the intro
Cool, one more to save.Â
I just saw that Airwalk Studios has a limited number of carts of this game available. If anyone wants it, head to the site: http://www.airwalkstudios.com/store.php (//http)
Big fan of Dra600ns work. Bought Hangman SG as living proof that a hobbyist can both program and release a real cartridge game. This is very tempting!

His version of the game is really excellent. I wrote a featured review for it: Fix-It Felix Review (//http).

It's true that I had only done one game prior that was very simple, but even simple games can have unique and interesting stories behind them! (Hangman SG has no cool story, unfortunately :)

I did notice you linked to my review on your site. That was cool to see. Thanks and I will reiterate that the praise given to the game is well deserved.Â
