OK, so let's start a look at another sport: Baseball! And let's start with the evolution of these games on the grandfather of all consoles, the Atari 2600...

Those evolved quite a bit within the same system!
Agree! I played baseball games on the C64. That was back when baseball was fun. Now you have to have a degree in physics to even hit the ball.

Used to play R.B.I Baseball 2 on the Amiga, very good game.
But its a game for you Americans more than us Brits lol..
It's by Atari, of course it's goodÂ

I played the Odyssey2 baseball in my younger days. Liked it back then but it seems to show its age now. Homerun on the Atari 2600 is about the same way.
Here is Championship Baseball on the C64.
I remember the title. Not sure I played it much. Sure is full of colors.
So, let's take a look at Baseball in another system. Here is Super Action Basbeball on the ColecoVision!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHl5e_8dZNc[/align:uem64lz8]
Super Action Baseball really looks impressive. I have a copy of the game. Just never have picked up a pair of the special controllers to play the game properly.
Quote from: "onthinice"Super Action Baseball really looks impressive. I have a copy of the game. Just never have picked up a pair of the special controllers to play the game properly.
What is the controller that it requires? Sucks that you have the game and can't play it!
I believe it is called the Super Action Controller. It is rather neat looking.
here is a picture.
You can see clearly how Atari was inspired for the Jaguar controller.
Really looks sharp does it not?
Ok, here is the real controller
So, they must be expensive to get. Or you can always get one of those contraptions you posted first?Â
I think the price is reasonable on-line. Just not sure how well built they are and if the price is enough to justify for the few games that would use the controllers. Same thing for the Coleco steering wheel.
OK, cool.Â
Well, here is another baseball game to look at. This time for the Arcadia 2001, simply called Baseball.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inQZhAW8J5E[/align:2dh0rahe]
Looks like they took time to make a good game. Basic colors for sure. I like it!
Which I have already posted earlier in the thread!Â

I have the original World Series Baseball, it's pretty good.
Frank Thomas was actually supposed to come out on the Jag and was apparently near enough finished.
And we continue to be tortured to learn about titles that never made it to the Jaguar that were supposed to be coming for it.Â
I have Bases Loaded '96, Bottom of the Ninth, Frank Thomas Big Hurt, Grand Slam and World Series Baseball. Sadly I do not know which ones were not to be ported to the Jaguar. :78:
Like Laird, World Series Baseball is might favorite followed by Grand Slam and Bases Loaded '96.
Cool, looks like several of these are good games then.Â

Only thing was I played Super Challenge Baseball more on the 2600. Same game as Major League Baseball. Less buttons to press. Same fun.
Had completely forgotten to include the Intellivision here! I've yet to test out these games on my Intellivision. Will have to give them a spin. Love the speech on World Series!

If you look you will notice that all the Japanese games go for the cartoony look while the western games go for realism, shows a big difference in what different markets want from their games.

I'm a PSP fanboy! :33: Pun intended

I have played the Backyard Baseball series on the Playstation 2. Those are fun little games.
I have a PSP myself but I don't think the PSP is retro.
