So, has anyone heard of the Leisure Vision? I had not until Jerry (console covers) mentioned Barb is working on a cover for it. Seems this is an Arcadia 2001 clone. Here is a video I found on YouTube (seems to be the only one) for it and some images.

Yeah there were loads of Arcadia 2001 clones, most of them legal as the hardware was licensed out to various manufacturers all over the world, just like it's predecessor the Interton 4000.
One of the more popular European versions of the console was made by Tchibo who are now famous for their high quality coffee machines!Â

I have always quite fancied getting one for some reason. I know there is a great multi-cart available for it.
I thought the controller looked interesting. Seems to be inspired by the Intellivision.Â
I had never heard of it either. It does look like a nice system.
You should see the cover Barb made for it. Pretty ingenious!

And a TV commercial for it!

They really cloned the original console, didn't they?

Like I said the people who designed the Arcadia licensed it to every man and his dog and most of the consoles, from what I understand, are exactly the same just with a different badge on them. From what I have just read the Leisure Vision was the official Canadian version of the console.
So, I guess any game designed for the Arcadia 2001 would fit on this no problem.

It should do yeah
Based on the video of those two games it seems as if the sound capabilities of the system are comparable to the 2600. I'll have to check more A2001 videos to see.
Pretty decent version of Cat Trax, the sequel to the more famous Mouse Trap

Much better than the Atari 2600 version:

That is a nice port, indeed.
I just came across this:

Ignore the German commentary and just look at the game. It is certainly a very ambitious title, in many ways it's like an early version of EA's FIFA Soccer as it uses the exact same viewpoint as the original Mega Drive version!
Look at this screenshot and you will see what I mean!

That is very ambitious indeed! Where there any ports that used that perspective back then? I can't remember any.Â
If anyone has an Arcadia 2001 or a clone, here are some custom covers:

I can't remember any football games using an isometric viewpoint until FIFA came out, people called it revolutionary too. Hence why I was so surprised when I saw this Arcadia game!Â
Very nice cover use.
I really like the look of Alien Invaders, very nice take on Space Invaders, just a shame this video has no sound.
The more I see of this machine the more I am intrigued by it, if I wasn't so skint I would probably try and pick one up. Maybe I will see what the emulation is like for it.

I am intrigued by this console myself. It doesn't have a huge library but I really can't get another system. I'd have to hang it from the ceiling! LOL

I have a very similar problem! Since I got my Dreamcast I now have my TurboGrafx sitting on top of the CD-i. There really isn't any space anywhere for another console. I already moved the computers upstairs!
I didn't realise just how many different people produced a version of this console until I looked at the Wikipedia (//http) page!Â

I was also interested to see that Bandai sold the machine in Japan and actually made some Jap exclusive games for the system themselves.
I came across the Arcadia Central (//http) website that lists every game for machine, different variations, manuals, ROMs, emulators and just about everything you need to know about the machine.
Very interesting indeed.
Fantastic stuff, i would love to get one of these..
Just came across this vid that shows 20 games, albeit briefly:

Pretty cool! You can't blink while watching the video, though! LOL Nice collection of games, clearly many clones of arcade games. They don't look bad either.
Yeah, I think if I ever do pick one up I will get one of these:

Even better!
Nice!

Nice video. The game actually looks fairly good for a Berzerk clone but it does play a bit slow but I like the concept of that thing that shoots from the middle. I guess that's the equivalent of Otto.
I just discovered a guy on You Tube who has done videos of pretty every single Arcadia game:
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [1] - 3D Bowling (//http)
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [7] - Baseball (//http)
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [3] - Alien Invaders (//http)
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [11] - Breakaway (//http)[/align:2971eahc]
nice console, I modded several of them for AV output. only the joysticks are a big crap. A friend owns a lot of these consoles. The emerson products are far better than the rebuilds from other vendors.
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [15] - Crazy Gobbler (//http)
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [16] - Escape (//http)
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [33] - Space Vultures (//http)
Emerson Arcadia 2001 - [20] - Jump Bug (//http)[/align:1rtq2lpg]
Damn, Gobbler is a far better Pac-Man game than what Atari made for the 2600. I'm guessing Escape is a clone of Berzerk and Space Vultures a clone of Galaxian. Both look pretty good but I find it funny that the ship on Space Vultures reminds me of the Atari logo. Jump Bug looks like an original game. Is that jumping bug supposed to be a Volkswagen Bug?Â
pac man for Atari 2600 is crap. Ms Pac Man and Pac Man Junior is far better. Not sure why we are so freaky in the 80s to love pac man ;-)
Quote from: "TrekMD"Jump Bug looks like an original game. Is that jumping bug supposed to be a Volkswagen Bug?
I believe so yeah, it's certainly a quirky system with a unique look.

No doubt!Â
