Looks awesome.
Apparently an ISO of Geist Force will be available for download shortly.

Is this a previously unreleased prototype game then?
It appears to be mate. Very much like Starfox..
Impressive looking game.
that looks pretty damn good
Looks decent, shame it was never completed and released, though will look forward when they release the image so I can burn a disc and try it myself!
I can fill in some blanks here for people on this one.
It was meant to be the first game for the Dreamcast but it was developed on a different prototype model while they were still deciding on the final hardware of the console. So it was never intended to run on current released Dreamcast models
Here is where my knowledge is a bit hazy, so Assembler either bought the GD-ROM from someone who found it or found it himself, I'm pretty sure its the first option. They've been taking donations for 2 years and finally managed to tweak the game enough to get it to work on Retail Dreamcasts.
I'm currently waiting for my copy to arrive in the mail sharpish and when it does I will be sure to feature it on my channel.
Thanks for the info, so the other prototype model was that using the 3dfx hardware?
actually a very good question, not actually sure what the difference was in terms of the hardware version. I think it was just an earlier revision of the Katana board, same intended machine they just changed the spec a little during production which meant it wouldn't work... I did a little googling but couldn't find anything concrete... I will continue to dig
This looks really cool! Is there any way to still buy a physical copy of this or is it too late?
if you dash over to assembler forums they have a thread about left over copies, not sure if they still have any but it wouldn't hurt to ask! I can't wait for my copy to arrive

Thanks! I signed up for an account over there and just waiting to get permission to post.
I looked around a bit but didn't see the thread you mentioned, what section is it in?
Or maybe I can't see it yet cause I'm new.
sorry bud I can't find it, maybe he closed the thread. if you join and pm the guy once your a member just ask him if there are any available, hopefully it will be.

Yeah I'll have to try that, thanks for all the help.

Now I'm curious. If this game was finished but just coded for a different version of the hardware why didn't they do whatever needed to be done so they could release it?
Seems like a huge waste of money and resources to make a game and then do nothing with it.
To be clear it was never completed, it still has bugs and I doubt you could finish a play through, it is an unfinished prototype. Though some of the guys out there think that they will be able to make the image run more effectively once the iso is released. Sorry if you got your hopes up'
That's okay, complete or not I'm still very interested.
Looking forward to hearing what you think when you get your copy.
Whats the damage on it? ie the price lol...
I think after converting it I spent something like £36 or so? that was inclusive of p+p from the US. I don't think its too bad to be fair. And they have stressed that the money is not for the purchase of the game just a contribution to the site that entitles you to a copy... something like that anyway lol
I normally try to avoid double posting about anything but thought it worth mentioning that, regarding Geist Force on DC, anyone coming to the show on Saturday is going to be in for a VERY nice surprise!!Â
I got to play this at the weekend!
Graphically this is a seriously impressive game! But that is where the greatness ends I am afraid. This version is buggy as hell and has a multitude of problems. The controls are a bit off and the collision detection is utterly abysmal. It's nice as a demo but needs a serious amount of work before it can be considered a proper game.
Cheers for the honest feedback. I guess it is very incomplete code but code you can experience never the less.
yeah I took my copy of it with me to the RV show saturday, no one really saw it except Laird and me lol, most people there didn't know too much about DC and those that did seemed happy playing beat em ups and race games lol
My main bug bear with this game is that there is no clear route or any signs of how to advance in some of the sections. Most are obvious as its just pretty much a straight line, but against the boss monster I got to there was no way of knowing what was required, the space was confined and the ship seemed to just keep flying to fast.
and when a cut scene kicks in the ship darts head first for the ground. Its VERY buggy/Glitchy... some people are looking at tidying up how the code is stored on the disc but all this will help with is the strain on the laser and the random restarts, disappointing for the money spent I'm afraid
Assembler Games have released a downloadable ISO of Geist Force to the internet.
Simply head on over to their release thread and get your hands on Geist Force.
Here is a clip of the game.

cool! Don't hold your breath though guys, its LITERALLY only worth getting to show off the fact that you have it and its graphics, its pretty much totally unplayable which is such a shame
I got my copy a while ago but based on what everyone is saying about it I haven't even opened it yet lol. One of these days I will unwrap it and give it a shot, see if it's really that bad.
for the time being it isn't very good, I'm hoping someone will release a guide that allows you to get the most out of it because its pretty hard to follow and work out what you need to do
