I usually love all of these but this one was a real disappointment as its missing loads of versions such as the BBC Micro, Amiga, Amstrad, Enterprise, Electron, PC, Apple II and the great ST version:

Star Wars The Arcade Game was a tough one to port to home systems. I was impressed with what was accomplished with the 2600 but a bit disappointed with the 5200 and ColecoVision versions. I would have expected better sound for the systems. The 32X is another game altogether since it doesn't even try to do the vector graphics. That Atari ST version is fantastic, though! Wow!
When I was a kid I had the Spectrum version which was damn good actually for what it was and my neighbour had the BBC Micro version which wasn't bad but played far too slowy. I later got that ST version and was blown away by it, arcade perfect in every way right down to the brilliant speech!Â
Thumbs up for the Atari ST version.
No idea why the guy chose to music over part of part of this video but here is the excellent Spectrum version:

That also looks great! I wish he had left the music from the game because it sounded like it was very good on the intro.
It was a very nice opening!
Here is the BBC Micro version my neighbour had:

Not bad for an old 32k computer
That does look pretty good as well!
Really good version!
The folks from RetroCollect have posted an article about the game:Â Arcade Memories: Remembering Star Wars The Arcade Game (//http).
Well, this thread is getting revived. The folks from Gaming History Source have now created a comparison video of Star Wars: The Arcade game. There are 17 different versions that are compared and the video is an hour long. Given all the hype about Episode VII, seems quite appropriate!Â

I kinda like the 68000 version
Quote from: "Willie!"I kinda like the 68000 version :113:
Maybe because it is 2015 and I only hear good out of one ear but some of these although impressive in the graphics department; were a let down with the sound effects. Laser noise was better muted in several versions.
The 2600 and 5200 were both amazing but trying to play the Atari 5200 with a standard joystick would be tough. 32X has to be my favorite but if they included the GameCube versions I would nod towards those.
Last one the Sega Model 3, that looked nice! I will have to check for more information on that one.
The SM3 is they not arcade hardware?
Yeah.
From what I can tell it seemed like another stop gap for Sega only using arcade boards instead of consoles. Some of the information I uncovered said a few of the titles like Sega Rally 2 and Virtua Fighter 3tb were ported to the DreamCast.
To bad that Star Wars game did not make it.
The sharp x68000 is a winner for me, its like a pre-cursor to the rogue squadron games years before they appeared, loved the music, the graphics, who ever produced that version was pure geniusÂ

As for the second , it has to be the Atari ST version, with been the closest home port of the 16-bits, I simply loved that games to bits back in ST days...cracking stuff.
I was a big fan of Star Wars Pinball as a kid.
How I would love to own the pinball machine.
I got to see it and play it at FreePlay Florida! Cool table.Â
