Atari Times has published some videos looking at games that are worse the ET. As many of you know, ET has been called the worst game in video game history but that is an "honor" the games does not deserve. Many also believe ET and 2600 Pac-Man are responsible for the video game crash in North America. Neither one of those beliefs is really true. So, here are the videos from Atari Times...

Great videos, cheers fella.
Plenty of really bad games that caused the North American crash that had nothing to do with ET!
Boy, I'll say. Some of those wouldn't qualify as garbage let alone fully released/supported games or software.
They really must've been basing sales around gouging the consumer. Like, entire companies were created on that premise. No wonder people got fed up and stopped buying. Me, like most, would make a purchase based on the exquisite cover art and the 'game' would blow so bad that admiring the cover was more fun.
Bad time for the industry but some hefty lessons were learned. Some at the cost of people's fortunes who were sitting at the top of the mountain but karma is biotch, I guess 8)

That line is a classic! ;D
Lol
I have to add that I did/do like E.T. Never understood why it was blackballed like that. As I've said in other threads, it doesn't play out like the movie to an exact degree but it's its own unique experience of a game and was a lot of fun back then when there were hoards of crap to choose from. If it had been named Return to Uranus it would still be great but its name would have never been brought up like the zillions of other turds that led to the fall of the industry. They would have probably picked another big name game like Asteroids or Adventure to use as the scapegoat. If every name of every turd that actually caused the fall was repeated in every conversation, you'd never finish talking as there were so many. But, that's reality and most of the folks blaming E.T. over the last 3 decades (who actually believe it) aren't in touch with reality for the most part. IMO 8)
Of course, some people actually didn't like it and that's great, but to blame it? Nope.
Agreed. I always liked the game and the whole pit thing may have caused some frustration but I just thought it was part of the difficulty of the game. I am one of those people who reads manuals so I never had a problem figuring out what the symbols meant. I think many people do the same as they do with the Jaguar when it comes to ET, they just repeat they BS they've heard without even trying it.
