The original publisher and owner of the Boulder Dash brand and all related intellectual property rights, First Star Software, Inc. first released Boulder Dash for the Atari 400/800 and Commodore 64 home computers in 1984. Last year, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Boulder Dash, First Star Software, Inc. joined with Peter Liepa and Chris Gray, to Imagedevelop Boulder Dash(R)-30th AnniversaryTM which is available for Android and iOS SmartPhones and Tablets.

As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, Classic Game Publishers, Inc./Elektronite; and First Star Software, Inc. previewed the Intellivision version of Boulder Dash at the Classic Game Expo in Las Vegas, September 12 — 14th , 2014 where the game was very well received.

Richard M. Spitalny, First Star Software's co-founder and president noted: "From the outset, after William approached us about porting the game to Intellivision we've all worked hard to create a quality product, for collectors and retro gamers, that successfully defies the limitations of the hardware, largely due to the efforts and skill of Scott."

William Moeller, Classic Games Publisher's president said: "We at Classic Game Publishers, Inc. are pleased to be co-publishing a world renowned franchise with First Star Software. By producing entirely new, professional quality product for a classic video game system that is no longer in production, we are breaking new ground. We are excited to be partnering with a software publisher that has been around since virtually the beginning! "

Just happy that Valter didn't hire a particular individual that was responsible for us shipping an empty box last year.

This game is ready to rock. PAL timings are the same as in the NTSC verstion!

An empty box?  That is an expensive error.

Considering I printed overlays, a cart sticker, and paid $2000 US for a program I never got to see, I'd say it was an expensive mistake!

Nevertheless, I'll be developing it with a more reliable programmer in the near future.

The game features a title screen that pushes the Intellivision to its technical limit. It is a very impressive screen.

The game features game saves for High Score....all 20 caves and a couple of cool Easter Eggs.

Michael Markowski just posted his thoughts about Intellivision Boulder Dash(R).

He writes; "I just received my copy yesterday and got a chance to play today for a little bit. Everything about this game screams awesome! I have to also take the time to say that Elektronite is the only publisher that consistently makes their games with high score saving or save states, and that is absolutely awesome!

Quick review of this game is that the challenge, the graphics, control, and sound are completely polished. This will make a great addition to everyone's Intellivision collection."

Yeah i really hope so too fella.. Sadly the Intellivision never had a massive following in the UK and Europe as a whole but any coverage like this can only help spread the word me thinks.

The game got an article at RetroCollect:  Boulder Dash Officially Released For Intellivision 30 Years Later (//http).  That should generate even more attention for the game.  :)
