Hi Guys, Just letting everyone know that Centron 3D is now being developed for the Commodore Amiga.
We've only just started so probably be ready in a month or 2. More info is on our website www.rpcgames.com.au (//http)

Thanks for the update. Good to see the game is being developed on another platform.Â
Yes, some Atari user's did not appreciate Centron 3D for the Atari 8-Bit. Oh well bad luck for them.

The Amigas graphics and sound system absolutely rocks, so we'll be putting our best into the game.
Pete
Yes, I read that on your site which sucks. You had mentioned possibly developing for the Jaguar also but I'm guessing that is off the table as well.
Oh wow, that's awesome news indeed. Really looking forward to this now.
That's a crying shame. I have zero interest in the Amiga.
This is indeed great news, and if your interested, I suggest you join one of the best Amiga group forums that is English Amiga Boards" simply google it, sign up and, join, they are all very welcoming and would love to see this posted over there, they can help with coding issues should they arise and there are plenty of people like ourselves willing to help with its promotion.
Judging by the screenshot image of the title page, will this game be AGA or Ham mode?
@Laird boo hoo to you, if it was the Megadrive or jag you'd have the pop noodle horn

, its been ported to a great machine you won't embrace, so I suggest you get into the Amiga, your epically missing out my friend.
Hey thats great news! Looking forward to see what you can pull off on the Miggy!
Nothing new with AA! some users really are abusive, but still dont let that cancel that version, just stay off AA!
I have spread the word here for you http://forum.classicamiga.com/forum/showthread.php/5454-CENTRON-3D-Now-being-developed-for-Amiga?p=52001#post52001 (//http)
I have also started a thread over at EAB : http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=74348 (//http)
Help get ball rolling

I hope you consider porting the game to the Jaguar at some point. I'm sure there are folks here who may be able to help.

Fantastic cheers will keep an eye out
Thats ok mate, good luck with it.. I am sure all the troubles will disappear once you show more info on the game and so on.. You know people can be sceptical.. That's life.
Hi Everyone :4:
That music sounds excellent!
Thanks guys. We're at the Centron 3D graphics stage now and this will take some time to complete.
But we're getting there

Pete
Just saw your notice of quitting the Atari 8-bit version. I redacted my silly comment in that thread as I didn't read through the entire topic to see how caustic things were getting.
Nevertheless, there are many reasons to abandon a project. "AA" isn't one of them. If anything naysayers need proving wrong rather than capitulation.
Just my two cents
Yeah that's definitely one way of saying "up yours" by completing it.Â
Hi Guys, We've been working on Centron 3D flat out and here's an Amiga update and please forget about Centron 3D for the 8-bit. It can stay on the shelf, my main priority at the moment is the Amiga port. Please check out the vid on YouTube. http://youtu.be/AjQer8V-QFc (//http)
Thanks guysÂ

Loving the music Pete.. Great work so far.
Thanks ZapilyÂ

Hi everyone, here's a little demo of Centron 3D for the Amiga on YouTube. It's only Level 1 with collision detection off. This is due to the collision detection routines aren't finished yet but I'm working on it and it's still fun to play.
Hope you all like it :4:

Thanks for the update. Cool to see progress with the game.Â
yes very good and looks dead smart..keep up with the progress
Great to see this progress Pete..
Looks great little game and looking forward to seeing more.
hehehe Hi Guys, I've done a YouTube vid of Centron 3D running on our Amiga1200 68030 @ 40Mhz.
I've taken out the delays so it now runs as fast as the CPU @ 40Mhz. hehehe
It's just way too fast to play, so I disabled the mine collision detection so I could see some game play.
Check it out. Centron 3D running at 40Mhz. hehehehe http://youtu.be/0VqxIwT5JOI (//http)
Pete :)
Grey.
That is mega quick lol...
Hi Guys, we've been working flat out on Centron3D for the Amiga and we now have a short gameplay video of ALL 23 LEVELS. Check it out on YouTube and please let me know what ya think.

Looks like the game engine is pretty solid. Reminds me of shareware games I used to enjoy as a kid!
The dithering on the backgrounds looks a bit harsher especially on brighter backgrounds/balls. It's like the solid bright colors are too many shades brighter than the closest dithered color.. if that makes any sense? I dunno if that's just my sorry eyes or YouTube messing with your graphics.
Keep going!
Looks great from my laymans point of view.. Loon being a coder is better placed to understand whats going on lol.

It does look great! I intentionally tried to be nit picky as we developers are always looking for ways to improve our stuff.
Back when desktop wallpaper was optimal at 256 colors I used to try paint program after paint program to find the best dithering patterns so it didn't look off. I'm obsessive that way :p
Good to see this making progress. Thanks for the video of the game in action!Â
Thanks guys. Dithering gives the impression of more colours on the screen, so we used dithering on most of the backgrounds. Centron 3D game play uses the 64 colour HalfBright mode and really, this was the best graphics we could get from a 64 colour palette. We did try 4096 colour HAM6 mode but the colours just bled into the adjacent colours when moving Blitter Objects and looked absolutely terrible, so we decided to use the 4096 colour mode only for the intro screen and the instructions screen.
The next graphics mode down the line was HalfBright 64 colour mode, 32 real colours and 1 shade of the real colour = 64 colours. Using 6 bit planes on the 8Mhz A500 was quite a challenge and we didn't think the A500 chipset would be fast enough to move Blitter Objects in 6 bitplanes but it turns out it can and it's quite playable.
All Scoring, Men, Text, Blitter objects and backgrounds ALL use the same 64 colour HB palette, so what we had to do was to mix all the palettes including all background picture palettes into one palette and then load in one colour palette for ALL levels and Blitter Objects. Did that make sense? :) so we had to strip down the anims and SFX to get it to fit into 1MB and all is working at the moment. It's been an absolute blast doing the Amiga A500 ver of Centron 3D and it's almost complete. Release date is very very soon :4:
