Title: Counter-Strike creator says Half-Life 3 in production
Post by: guest5190 on May 23, 2014, 18:45:10 PM
There's an interesting item on Computer and Video Games that suggests Valve are working on Half-Life 3. Although Valve have never publically confirmed this.

The article does sound promising though. It's been 7 long years since the last instalment.

It seems like ages ago when Counter-Strike was all the rage online. I remember having some fun with Half-Life too.

Half-Life 1 & 2 for me have if not the best AI in a game that ever was, should that be carried of in Half-Life 3 or even close could make this game , all games will have to aspire too this alone and have the graphics, atmosphere, gameplay and storyline to match, but there is a big problem with this? they released Episodes stemming from Half-Life 2 sub storyline and were supposed to deliver 3 in total , but only released 2 because they didn't have a clue at the time how to proceed with the next episode because they left lots of storyline unexplained, the thin man and actually didn't know how to work it out into a third episode hence why they canned and left it unfinished , which i thought was a disgrace as the first 2 episode are phenomenally good.

So how they are going to close this and bridge the story from Half-Life 2 to 3 is beyond me. But knowing how cheap the games industry will be and valve for that matter, they'll do it with still images and flashback cut scenes for those who never played Half-Life before and if you are one of these people? hold your head down in shame and face the corner of living room, your a disgrace!! :71: and piss off the long time fan-base, but I truly welcome Half-Life as I was there from the beginning and played its expansion disks and sequels and episodes wanting more, but as a big Half-Life fan I have big concerns how they are going to bridge the story lines in a convincing manner to the fans and at the same time blow away new comers, no small feat for any dev. They better fucking explain who the thin man is and close this story once and for all.

I think the issue of "the half life fans vs Valve" for this is one of the most ignorable arguments on the internet, the idea the 'true fans' should get what they deserve and not what Valve wants to deliver is meaningless TBH I think I gave up following the argument when 'the fans' started sending open letters to Valve, it just got boring.

I had them on PC and loved them. Replayed them on consoles (PS2 Half Life is being gone through ATM) and at some point I'll dust off The Orange Box to go over that again.

I agree the AI is exceptional, I used to play certain levels of Half Life when I wasn't able to get online as I felt they were the closest to PvP deathmatches I had.

HL3 will be epic, and I'm just looking forward to whatever Valve deliver :113:
