When i was younger my mum brought me one of these from a car boot sale and i loved it.
I used to play games on it alot but i used it mainly for programming as i had a collection of magazine's called Input filled with all type's of programmes.
so for hours i would site there typing in line's of code just for the computer to make a draw a image of a house or do square root lol or just instantly fill the screen with what ever texted i typed in lol.
not sure what happened to it as i grew up changing from that to a commadore 64 and then the amiga, master system, mega drive etc.I'm gonna have a look and see how much they sell for now.

I still have in my garage, would love to get it out one day. But getting through the clutter is a weeks worth job.
Hey zapiy you might want to think about digging it out lol

Yeah a few I have are worth that I suppose, thing is I find it hard to part with gear that took me a long time to collect.
wish i had kept hold of my old one's i did still have my commadore amiga 600 in the shed till my nephew got hold of it and took it to bit's without me knowing :/
had a big silver tray full of disk's for it.
I think I used to have one of them, they do look strangely familiar, may have been my older brothers!
I am sure you could pick one up cheap enough.
I dunno they do go for a pretty penny, I suppose its a matter of looking in the right areas to grab a bargain! 5 o'clock wake up to go to a boot sale anyone? hehe
Never had one of these, went from a VIC20 to a Speccy 128+2

That is quite a jump!!!Â
Interesting to note one poster saying that the Plus/4 costs plenty (even if it was posted months ago now). I dunno if that's the case nowadays but when I got mine 3 or 4 years ago it cost me a tenner on eBay.
I'm glad I did my computer collecting then ... even a few years ago it just seemed to be people dragging these things out of their loft, by and large without any kind of notion that they were really worth anything. Since then it seems as though retail types have muscled in on the scene and driven the prices ever upwards.
Have to agree fella.. Makes finding that elusive bargain that much more fun.

Very true indeed, you can't get the bargains you used to on eBay and you see a lot more shops than you used to.
I have never really liked any Commodore machine and one reason is because they are all so damn ugly but it has to be said that the Plus 4 looks incredibly cool, almost makes me want oneÂ
i seem to remember this computer had a bit of 'business' aura around it - don't remember anyone I know owning one - a few had c16s.Â

Funny you say that as before I was helping to update the sections on the site last night I never realised that it it contained 4 business applications in the rom, hence the Plus 4 nameÂ

Wow they are awesome.
Not familiar with the plus/4. I do like what it can accomplish.

It is basically a cut down version of the C64 with more colours but only 16k of memory.
Ok. Was it sold worldwide or just in certain regions?
My mistake, the Plus/4 actually had 64k of RAM. I was getting it mixed up with the Commodore 16, it could play all C16 games.
It was released worldwide, the wiki page gives a good summary - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_Plus/4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_Plus/4)
The computer did look pretty cool I think, much better looking than the C64:

Yeah I really like the design, a lot better than the C16, C64
That is a neat looking computer. The C64 looked better when they remade it closer to the C128 instead of the Vic-20.
There is actually a whole website devoted to the Commodore Plus/4
http://plus4world.powweb.com/ (http://plus4world.powweb.com/)
Thanks Laird! I will give it a check.
I did have a friend from primary school that owned one. I can only remember playing the flight simulator 'ACE' on that. Nothing much else springs to mind.Â
It seems to be over shadowed by Commodore's other machines(namely the Vic 20, C64 and Amiga). So does the C16 as well.Â
There was a very impressive shooter being made some time ago for the Plus/4 called XeO3 - but I couldn't find any evidence of progress since about 2008. Admittedly, I didn't look very hard.
Anyway, here's what it looked like:

Ohhh.Loved the look of that shooter!.
My only 'concerns' players ship looked very sluggish-Maybe it's like Delta? slow ship until you pick up 1st speed up power-up?. (Did'nt watch video through to the end mind).
And music, whilst superb, perhaps a little too jaunty for this type of game?.
Very impressive indeed!Â
