Title: Forum Music Player
Post by: zapiy on February 29, 2012, 11:27:24 AM
Greyfox had an idea for a forum music player.

Quoteany thoughts on a in forum music player, eg. sid player, atari st , mega drive, snes, java player maybe?...it's always good to be listening to some music while reading, helps set the mood

And suggested a poll for you all to decide. What i will say is it wont be intrusive it will be made so you start it if you want to hear it. Not Auto..

So what ya think?

Looks good to me, we need to source mp3 music files that are not likely to get me sent to prison lol.

Can just rip them from YouTube, I have a program that does it.

Hmmm i'm not too about it still been able to use on a site without some sort of licensing. But there is some websites you build a playlist of music using youtube videos and add it to your page.
I'll have a look as i used stuff like it on my myspace page ages ago

If its been uploaded by a member of the public then its a public license so its fine to rip it, near enough all video game music falls into this catagory. This is why you are allowed to embed the videos / music on other sites.

Stuff uploaded by record companies and artists themselves is different, you usually find that you cannot embed this elsewhere for that reason.

well, there's good news and bad news so far, I've only really been able to link a few sites, apparently, allot of websites using jave player are hardwired or create exclusively for there URL, but I did find a few that could be promising if coding is good on your behalf
one here : MikMod for Java : http://jmikmod.shlomifish.org/ (//http)  is able to playback Amiga mods and various other mod formats, but these music files I think would have to be fetched from server space on your host inorder to work.

another I found here ..looks more promising though : http://javamod.en.softonic.com/ (//http)  this one plays a llot of formats so this could be a option you could take..including Sid files etc..maybe contacting the dev, he might add other formats to this project if you ask him nicely :)

ps. anyone looking for the one stop shop of format support for winamp, to play back all your favorite formats, check this place out : http://www.chipamp.org/ (//http)  it's great  8)

Nice one fella, i will look at those more indepth from home.. I would say i favor the MP3 system as that will be compressed and save file space. Cheers bud.
