Just one small point, my article is on Myth: History in the making, not MystÂ

well your heading is beginning to become a fact regarding the release of Pixel Nation Issue 3 as been a Myth itself

wasn't this supposed to be released yesterday?, not even a cover preview that was promised..very poor PR and keeping quiet about things does not bod well either, I hope all is well with them and they get it out there soon.
yeah, was thinking that myself. Doesn't instill confidenceÂ
I guess this kind of thing is hard going but they should announce stuff to keep people in the loop.

I just copied and pasted that from their announcement, says it all.

Indeed it does.
Must say I'm a bit disappointed by it, although not surprised. To produce something of this quality is a huge ask, not just in time but finances. I think Keith did an amazing job with the first two but it took a huge commitment from him.
I really hope issue 3 still sees the light of day, but the lack of information is not good.
Can't believe Steven G, has had this out turn..really thought he had it together..a real shame, and Kudos to Keith, he really must of been under massive pressure to get it out there..I can't understand what has happened here..as there was possible talks with me to design possible issue 4 and other publications, doesn't look like it's gonna happen now

I think these delays and lack of communication may have to do with his personal life, I do know he hasn't been having a good time of it lately with Family aliments, so maybe this is a contributing factor?. I really do hope he turns it around and gets it out there for all of us, there is so many areas Retro Gamer dare not go, but Pixel Nation could...maybe we should all start our own publishing..lol...j/kÂ
Ai agree I think there really is a market for something like PN but then again maybe there isn't - after all it's obvious not enough people are buying it or rather did buy it.
I completely put that down to marketing of the Magazine.....although Keith did a half decent job, he is no PR person or promotional marketing expert, nor did he have the abilities to put it into play, their advertising abilities where horrendous, when you PR a product, you don't give life time ban to customers who didn't like the production or felt it wasn't up to scratch?? for speaking and giving their opinion, no matter how disconnected to reality they are.. Pixel nation needs a heavy PR Campaign, video advertisements, Magazine adverts, Top Podcast channels reviewing it, Competitions, Merchandise, 3rd party retailers (HMV, Gamestop, Retro retailer stores) or awareness. Pixel Nation did none of this or didn't try harder to increase profit or sales, it relied on the strength of niche forums to dictate its sales, in doing so locked itself into a specific market place, ultimately making Keith commit commercial suicide with the Product and the Retro Gaming community entirely, but basing that facts that this was helped by certain individuals, I can't name here.
If done correctly, this can be aimed at people who never knew anything about the subject matter and could generate a massive following large profits, just because it's retro doesn't mean no-one other than the community is interested, completely the opposite, you just need to know how to get it out there, and I also think some of the best stories out there come from this Subject, from years past, the way things where dealt with etc. I fell Pixel Nation had no choice but to work within the confines of a shoe string regarding there budgets, advertising, sure they (Keith) even used a Flyer I designed to promote their product, without permission, and I found that out the hard way..while browsing a Retro games shop on Facebook, they posted it lol...but all water under the bridge now..but this is what I feel is wrong with the Pixel Nation Brand, a user-base is all well and good, but it needs much more to succeed these days, Promotion is the key factor here, I have many ideas regarding this..but aren't simply gonna hand them over :)
The worst part of all of this is how Steven hasn't bothered contacting the actual writers who's work is appearing in this magazine, if you don't have writers you don't even have a product in the first place.
I just tried contacting Steven via the PN website but I assume others have tried this. I hope he is ok.
Still no news on PN03Â
I pre ordered to get the price discount so hopefully we hear something soon.
I'm really hoping nothing personal has happen with them, as I know the owner very well, and have tried a couple of times to email him with nothingÂ

I really am concerned about this now, any of you got a phone number, that could be rang?
If I hear anything, I'll post it here.
It seems the website has been taken down, as all that remains ATM is a splash screen now :-[
For those of us who pre ordered this is there anything we can do?
I've never had to file a complaint with paypal before but I think it's past the time frame to do that anyway. Not sure what to do now.

I just filed a complaint on PayPal. I ordered the digital version on 1/15/13. You may want to check with PayPal as you may be able to file a complaint as well.

Thanks, I'll try that.
It's sad that people are having to do this
Quote from: "The Laird"It's sad that people are having to do this
Yes it is. I had hoped to be able to get the digital issue but, given what the status of the web site is, seems unlikely it will see release as either in digital or print format.
Well looks like I'm out of luck as far as a refund. Filed a complaint and got this message from Paypal "Thank you for registering your complaint about this transaction. Unfortunately, this type of transaction is not eligible for PayPal dispute resolution. We encourage you to continue to work directly with your seller, as we have found that many misunderstandings reach amicable solutions through communication" Good thing it wasn't a lot of money but still disappointed in the whole thing.

That's weird. How did you report it? I just said I had not received my item.Â

Yeah that's what I said too. I got that reply immediately so it must have been an automated response based on the transaction type. Not sure why though. Let me know what kind of response you get.
They just sent a message to the "seller" and I'm waiting for an answer.
Just read the rules regarding filing a complaint on PayPal and it says you only have 45 days to dispute something and then after that there's nothing they can do about it. Looks like I'm about 4 days past the deadline which would be why I got that response.
also picking up on information from Keith (Lafarious) over at Retro Gamer forum, it stated that it was 98% complete, simply lacking about 6-8 pages for a final print, so it is in existence, I wonder if they used those hexagon backgrounds in the spreads for Issue 3..?, so if anything, it may still appear in digital form at some stage..fingers crossed
The plot thickens, Steven just posted on RG but not in response to Pixel Nation, he is trying to sell his Wii U
Hmm, I've yet to receive a reply from PayPal about my preorder. I guess they are waiting to hear back.
Video from former PN owner Keith:

Damn I only just found out about this. I was going to use PN to publish a printed version of PC Engine Gamer, but I guess that's never going to happen now.
Maybe not at the moment but who knows in the future fella.
That is a real shame and he seems like a really nice man (can't be bad if we share the same name). Thanks Laird, though sad news it's good to keep abreast of these things.
Also just to mention, I can confirm that the pixel nation brand under its new owner has admitted that it is dead and will not be returning at any time to publish or create new products, even though he has been advised otherwise, so there is no point in discussing anything pixel nation, so I'm closing this thread.
The plot thickens . . . .
http://stevenf.com/posts/steven-gauntley-is-a-criminal (//http)
This is the guy who originally owned half of Pixel Nation and then took it over himself later on.
After reading this, I can completely relate to that guys continuous remarks regarding excuse after excuse from Mr.Gauntley, I myself have given my contact number to him time and time again, never to hear anything or be followed up on what was been discussed, and I'm really angry at myself for in a way ignoring the signs with the ideals the chap will make good with future co products, but with both regret and relief this now will never happen

I will be forwarding any material I have now to aid the guy he has conned in any way I can.
Looks like the guy is a "model" citizen. Particularly is the model you're looking for is a crooked one!
Looks like that guys message has gotten across as super damaging to Steven Gauntley and his conning style, he has contact the guy in the above link since to shorten his huge damaging statement against to a short version, without incriminating him any further, with this statement
"Wasn't this page much longer originally?
Yes. It had a complete timeline of the events that transpired, as well as email transcripts, photos and more.
As long as Mr. Gauntley continues to make good on his promise to make refund payments to me, I will keep this shorter version up instead. This is a gesture of very strained good faith."looks like he could be waiting awhile, this is to me nothing more that extended time while Steven sorts out any future dealing in process before they catch wind of this this and cancel and run for the hills.
another statement from Subzero at Retro Gamer forum, wrote this.
"he still owes me £265 for ebay fees when he conned me into listing his models for him! you know he used to own the defunct wrestling promotion 1PW - you can read about that on wikipedia and other places...."I've now send an Email to Mr.Gauntley sieving all ties with anything he had planed for the future , product wise, and am completely disgusted, that I had hope to publish my Coin-Op:Arcade Guide book with this individual and invest my money to have it realized, looks like it'll never see the light of day now

99% finished too..and don't think doing a digital version of it will give back what's been puts into it.......looks like I'll be the only one to own it.
Sad to read that.. I suppose even the net is affected by dodgy people.

Oh, the net is a place where these kind of people can do the most harm.

Well that sucks! I was looking forward to your book Fox, hopefully you can find another way to publish it.
I was one of the people who pre ordered Pixel Nation issue 3 so I'm out 10 or 15 dollars or something like that but thankfully no more. I was looking at his mini arcade cabs and had thought about ordering a couple so I could have been out a lot more!

well it's being brought to my attention, that I might be able to get this published without breaking the bank, by one of our great members here, has really shed some great light on how I can go about it, so I'll public-ally announce that " it'll never see the light of day now " to be changed to "it will possibly out at some stage if the demand is there for it"

hope that reassures you now
