OK early followers of RRE and the show plans we've been concocting - we've listened to early opinion and made the necessary changes, and can confirm that REVIVAL 2013 is now booked and confirmed with some slight changes, to Saturday and Sunday 18th-19th May 2013 at Dunstall Park Racecourse, Wolverhampton!
With demand for a full weekend event and ideas/requests for certain features and more exhibits, we have moved location of the event to the plush Ringside and Concourse Suites of Dunstall Park Racecourse, just on the edge of Wolverhampton city centre in the West Midlands. The new venue boasts more floor space with chance for more dedicated zones and exhibits, with a fully licenced bar, reasonably-priced restaurant, all-day comfort food on demand, 300 free on-site car parking spaces and full ground-floor disability-friendly access! We have also managed to secure a longer setup time on Friday evening, full free Wi-Fi access (a big help for traders to receive remote payments) and longer opening times, giving scope for an evening segment right in the venue itself!
The venue is more easily accessible by road being away from the major traffic hotspots of the Midlands (minutes from the M6, M5, M54 or M1 motorway links) as well as having direct public transport links with all the surrounding towns and of course Birmingham city centre, for those travelling distances by air or rail. Best of all, the venue has an on-site 4-star Holiday Inn, which will be offering special rates for the weekend for visitors of the REVIVAL Exhibition, meaning that everything you need if travelling distance or wanting to make the most of the show is right there in one venue, so no additional travelling costs! Plus for all you gamers who enjoy a bit of nightlife, Wolverhampton city centre is just 1 mile away with a very active pub and club scene and we will be making enquiries with local businesses to hopefully get some drink and food deals made for show guests too!
All in all, this show is already shaping up to be a fantastic exhibition and we're listening to opinion and going that extra mile to make sure it really is the all-encompassing retro event you've been waiting for! The website will be updated shortly, but in the meantime you can check back here for more info and please spread the news round all your usual forums and social media sites!

Okay I will go assuming all is good in my hood.
hang on wasn't there another event happening somewhere up north as well? is this the same one just moved?
Laird when's your birthday? mines 12th May, I'm guessing yours doesn't fall on the same day right? lol

Mine is the 21st! This is going to be my birthday celebration!
This event is in the midlands, not up north, but it was moved from July.
oh ok, so whats the other event I'm thinking of you mentioned, or am I just getting confused and it is this one? what you gonna do about staying over? its a fair ways from here so if I was going to go I'd have to stay over somewhere

You are probably thinking of this one mate or another that was announced for when Retrovision was going to be that actually is up north (Sheffield).
This one has a Travel Lodge or some such next to it apparently that is £25 a night, even cheaper with a room share.
sounds good, so is the one in Sheffield not going ahead now?
Quote from: "dcultrapro"sounds good, so is the one in Sheffield not going ahead now?
Yes it is, its in March.
This event was originall in Solihull in July, it was cancelled after people moaned about the lack of a bar and then moved to Wolverhampton in May.
aaaah yes Solihull rings a bell, that's what I was thinking of, sorry!!
So what's the one in March in Sheffield??

It's a show in Sheffield that is being run by a guy from Retro Gamer and Replay Events who did Play Expo. Will be a really big show but I don't think I will be going as its a long way to go and I prefer smaller shows.
I'm in! Even closer now lol
I am strongly considering going, but it depends on my transport situation at the time and the weather. i.e. my wife has the household car and if it's raining my motorbike isn't an option.Â
Well you live near me. We can split the fuel cost and I drive?
I'd be interested in going but I have a similar issue/situation, the wife uses the car every other weekend and if it falls on a weekend she's working I'd have to find a way to convince her to let me have the car and stay at her folks place, and then I'd have to be able to afford the fuel!

There will be plenty of us going I am sure we can organise car shares

definitely, DEFINITELY tempted to come to this, the wife is working as well so she doesn't mind if I go, hmmm....

Well we can all travel together as I will be moved by then and Duncan is coming too.
sounds good! I'll bring my swedish house mafia album for the car lol
Want to start looking at making a list of who is going.
Maybe arrange a meet up for a hour or two..
Please post here if your going and which day and i will update the 2nd post in this thread.
I will be there all weekend, as will my brother.
I will be there both days
I may have to give this a miss for the moment unless I get a new job that pays me lots of money lol, I would love to go but the fuel, hotel, food etc being the bare minimum that I would spend would still be more than I can afford at the moment. I really wanna go!!

You can probably car share of you do come and room share too. Would be sad if you couldn't come.
I guess thats a point actually yeah, have you booked the rooms yet? I don't mind driving and sharing the fuel costs but I wouldn't blame you guys if you didn't wanna go in my car lol, I do drive a bit fast!!

Not yet no
I am not staying over as I am working the day before and the day after, not sure if I am driving either yet but if anyone is just doing the Sunday maybe we can arrange something.
That's a shame as its also my birthday celebration
Sure we can have a beer bud.
If I go I will go for the whole weekend
Time to give you all a big update on the weekend now things are being confirmed:
- Dino Dini of Kick Off fame and Archer MacLean will be hosting a special talks to answer all your questions!

Quote from: "dcultrapro"sounds good! I'll bring my swedish house mafia album for the car lol :)
BTW! I'm looking at going, but not sure about where's the best place to stop (hotel wise etc.) as funds are 'limited' to say the least.
Be good to see you again WoodyÂ
I was at the venue yesterday helping to finalise things like the floor plan and what we require for the event.
So I thought I better take some photos for you all, you can take a look HERE! (//https)
The venue could not be more perfect for a retro event and it's bloody huge too!
Looks perfect in every way..

That looks fantastic!
Great idea for a magazine and the poster is gorgeous !
Look forward to buying it at the show.
Cant wait for the show and mag now! Looks excellent
My ticket is for the Sunday not the Saturday. I'll have a t shirt on with my avatar on the front and will have my 10 year old son with me. Be great if any of you pop up and say Hi ! I'll look out for chaps in RVG t shirts.

I am an organiser so I will be in a Revival T-Shirt, but I hard to miss - just look out for a 6 foot gobshite telling people how great Atari areÂ
and I can vouch for that last statementÂ

Very cool! What was the response like from the attendees?
Brilliant. Yeah what's the feedback like fella?
Just wiping the tears from my face just nowÂ

delighted with the presentation , couldn't of went better.. Hopefully people will take to it as much as we have in making it.
Congrats Laird, sterling job mate..sterling job.
How was the first day ?
Just got back to the hotel, feedback was really good but everyone was asking for it in print. I really enjoyed doing the presentation, looked amazing on the big screenÂ

That's good. Looks like there may be demand for a printed version, based on what you heard.
Great to hear.
What we need to do is get real impressions for a printed version and then look at the costs.

Sweet! just out of interest, how many 'confirmed' orders would you need to make a print run viable? know printing costs are a bloody mare, but demand for print version seems to be high, so i've fingers crossed.
A few hundred at least, mag will need to be altered a fair bit too I think, Greyfox is the expert there.
Anyway here are the photos:

I'd like to see a print version too. And great pics of Revival on FB LairdÂ

Ditto
Great video Laird ! It was good to meet you at the show - can't believe how quick the day flew by.
The show itself was great - think I picked the right day to go - there was no problem at all on getting onto most of the systems that were there.
Managed to pick a few goodies from the show highlight being 60 CPC464 games for £25 !!

Good to meet you too mate, sorry I wasn't able to talk to you more - I didn't stop all weekend!
Yeah you did, the Saturday was mental with over 1100 attending! :10:
Posted some pics of Revival on Facebook (//https)
Some good photos there Doug!
I saw you took a special liking to the Amstrad Mega PC! (//http)
It was a dream I had as a younger man to own the Mega PC as soon as I saw it in a mag. Alas it wasn't to be.
Great to hear you hooked up..
Anyone else manage to meet up?
Ok so here's the footage I gathered from Revival

Please thumbs up if you like, some bastard has already thumbed it down though I have no idea why

That's a nice video. How did you not get added given the time you spent on stage speaking of the magazine is surprising.
Revival Retro Events
Well folks, the last few weeks have let us gather ourselves and reflect on the event (self review to follow this evening), but the main fact is that we can now officially say that REVIVAL 2013 was a huge success and thanks to the support of all that attended, RRE is continuing and we will definitely be back in two of our very own events, if you want to see more! Get prepared for:
REVIVAL 'mini' 2013 - late November 2013 -
This is a smaller-scale, more 'personal' pre-Christmas follow up to our premiere event. The event will be held at Kenilworth Cricket Club in late November and as the name suggests, be a scaled-down version of our main event with a more social feel but many similar attractions from computers to arcades.
and of course there's the big one...
REVIVAL 2014 - May 2014 -
Yes folks, by midday of the first event, Chris and I had already decided REVIVAL should return and can now confirm it will definitely be back at Wolverhampton Racecourse next May, an anticipated 50% bigger but still staying purely retro at heart! Look forward to more of the stuff you enjoyed last time round, plus some new surprises and ideas we simply didn't have room for last time!
Dates or prices are not yet confirmed but in the next few months we'll be helping at other events and gathering ideas for REVIVAL 2014, so be sure to check in on the newly-overhauled website regularly and stay posted here for the newest info as soon as we release it! If you're an exhibitor or trader, or simply have what it takes to take initiative and be part of the RRE crew, then now is the time to get your messages over to us at
enquires@revivalretroevents.com and make sure you're a part of what is being called the best retro gaming event in the UK!
Looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
-- Craig and Chris @ RRE --
Wish I could go. Looks like it is a lot of fun!
