Sega Chat / Re: The Sega Master System Discussion Thread
December 06, 2018, 09:53:16 AM
Loved my Master System, got it for my birthday 1988, i had the hang-on/safari hunt pack with lightgun, was very futuristic and high tech compared to the NES which as a young boy made me want one!

Trying to remember what games i had, only had around 15 games in total before i sold it around 1991.

As well as the pack-in games i had

American Pro Football
Basketball Nightmare
Battle Outrun
California Games
Choplifter
Dynamite Dux
Golden Axe
Golfamania
Moonwalker
Operation Wolf
Space Harrier
Wonderboy 3 - Dragons Trap
World Soccer

Commodore Chat / Re: Amiga CD32!
December 06, 2018, 09:26:23 AM
Couldnt find the thread on my previous CD32 releases, guess it got deleted in the purge, anyway here is my final releases put together as a 3 set Anthology (12 discs), which so far includes around 500 Amiga games, 200 PD games, 400 scene demos amongst other stuff, i won’t be releasing any new seperate discs from now on in, i will just add and update these discs every now and then.

All the iso files, manuals, and artwork to print out is included, all free to download! - https://cd32covers.blogspot.com

Announcements and Feedback / Re: Forum Changes
November 30, 2018, 08:44:02 AM
Not sure cutting down on threads will help (maybe it will who knows) personally i visit and if i see something i can contribute to i will, again from my point of view most of the regulars are Atari fans, so unless its the Lynx, i havent owned any of their other machines, and if its Amiga talk i tend to just keep to EAB.

Its not just this retro forum that has talk drop, all forums in general have, i used to post loads in the Retro Gamer forum, but its been quiet for the last couple of years and only mostly the dweebs hang on that people got annoyed with and left! And just a sign of the times that more groups have opened on FB too.

Have you thought about opening a FB group? Might seem sacralege to some, but maybe something like what Indie Retro News do, have a group but post links from the main site into the group, so the site remains but the chat side gets moved?

Just an idea, personally i’ve come off all SM sites now, but i’m one of the dying breed, but i dont care, i would rather die happy and ignorant!

Retro News & Chat / Re: Playstation Classic Announced

Sony dropped the ball with this imo, i know it will still sell in bucketloads, but it will miss the massmarket sales, for starters its already £30-£40 more than nes/snes mini, those low prices help with impulse buys and smaller xmas gifts, £100 is really pushing it, which may have been saved by some real classic games on there, until Sony revealed the full lineup that is!

Im a gamer and a collector, but even i wouldnt pay £70 for this due to the awful games on there, had they the foresight to take a gamble and include an online store and wifi module so people can download new games to sd cards (Sony know this will be hacked so i dont buy the ‘its too risky’ to do that scenerio.

But really all they needed to do was repackage the vita tv into the new moulding and its already good to go, must be thousands sitting in warehouses anyway!

I dont get these simple fpga systems, 190 dollars for an ugly piece of plastic that needs the original cart to play, id rather have the much cheaper original hardware and play through scart or via a scart to hdmi convertor if your new tv doesnt have scart.

Retro News & Chat / Re: Why do you keep retroing?
September 28, 2018, 10:06:49 AM
Thats the big issue, whilst ‘we’ always want retro to become more popular so we get new games in the retro style, new games for retro machines, magazines etc the opposite effect of making old retro machines and games extremely expensive nowadays, its forcing alot of people into emulation even if they didnt really want to, as you say some of this stuff is more expensive now than when it came out!

I havent been for a couple of years, but although i still enjoyed it, i feel my younger self would like it alot more, i just hate queing and as you know if u want to play any AAA game you have to q.

But yeah the retro area is where i spent more time than anywhere else.

Are they still making the young generation obese and diabetic by handing out 10 zillion cans of energy drink for free?

At least Sony hasnt ripped off Europe with its pricing unlike SNK did with the NeoGeo mini, shame with all these minis is they dont have removable storage and an online store to add more.

Cause most new games are buggy, new updating, don’t contain all the full game you need to buy extra characters etc , hardware needs updating, painful experience to play on a modern console!

The only saving point once they went back on FPGA was a cheap price point, the base unit, one cartridge unit and int shipping which is a crazy $125 alone! Comes to $435 (£336) then add 20% import duty takes it to a cool £400! Nah even at £200 for software emulation its pushing it, doubt they will many international orders tbh

News this will no longer have FPGA on the base unit and will be pure software emulation has only been said AFTER some people have preordered! No wonder they are asking for money back, its the main selling point and just leaves the expensive module system as pure software emulation you can get anywhere else....talk about kicking yourself in the foot as you try to finally launch it GAME OVER for this now.
