You know, Night Driver on the 2600 is a game that I'm surprised no one has hacked to improve upon.Â I'm sure the car the player drives could be rendered better, sound,Â and some of the game "mechanics" could be improved to make a it more enjoyable.Â I know the original arcade was a simple game, but no reason not to add some improvements to this classic.Â

I was thinking something like Pole Position for game mechanics but still keeping things close to the original.Â The car, for sure, needs improvement!

That is a really nice looking game!!!!! I was thinking of the Intellivision and Coleco ports.

Hard to add color without changing the name. Daylight Driver just does not seem to work :39:

I only have Checkered Flag. Power Drive Rally and Slam Racer remind me of Micro Machines. Which is one of my favorite racers. :113:

Laird can probably verify this but I don't think it ever was released. I have a demo disc from the guys who made Battlesphere that has Slam Racer on it. There's no sound and it's very difficult with the pillars that keep popping up in the middle of the road but it's fun for a few minutes.

It was shown to Atari as a demo and it was what got Sinister Developments their NDA and dev system from what Gordon said a few years back. It was never finished though, shame because it's my kind of game.

it came with Battlesphere but there is a CD image of it too that you can just download and burn yourself.

Enduro for VCS is the king of all racers for me. Too many great memories with that one.

Unfortunately, Intellivision is lacking on racers. Too bad no one has done an Enduro version for the good old INTV to date.

My favorite racer these days is probably any of the Ridge Racer series on original PSX console. Those games are pure racing bliss.

Dukes of Hazzard on CV is pretty rudimentary to say the least. It definitely would have benefited from voice. I can hear Roscoe P. Coaltrain going, 'Coo, Coo, Coo,' as his police cruiser appears in your rear view mirror.

Has anyone played any of the Dukes of Hazzard games on PSX or PS2?

I would not recommend it unless a you are a Dukes fan. Even then do not expect much. Trying to shoot your bow from the General Lee can be tough. The driving can be even tougher.

I love Lotus Esprit, without doubt one of my favourite Spectrum games. I used to spend hours playing this back in the day. I never played it properly though as I preferred to be bad and shoot other cars and run down the pedestrians. My favourite thing to do was to stop at a zebra crossing and then wait for the people to cross and then run them overÂ :19:

Unfortunately, looks aren't everything.Â Auto Racing and Turbo are not very good despite their nice graphics.Â Pole Position plays well and has great sound.Â Mud Buggies I've not played yet.Â it is a very hard-to-find game but I do have the ROM for it so I can play it on my CC3.Â

I played Vectrex Pole Position at a show last year and loved it, very good conversion for the system.

Hyper Chase looks great though, the speed is insane! It reminds me a bit of Enduro on the 2600 in that respect.

Both games on the Vectrex are fantastic.Â I was very impressed when I first played Pole Position on the system.Â Though it can be played using the driving controller (Overdrive) from Fury, it plays best with the joystick.Â Hyperchase is a different story.Â The Overdrive does wonders for the game and makes managing the speed of things much better.Â

Micro Machines, as you say, is brilliant on any system.

I don't think it actually shows it in that video but there is an arcade you can visit in Surf City where there is a simple top viewed racing game that you can play on.

Sounds like an interesting bit for Surf City. I bought Video Speedway years ago for my brother-in-law and have not played since the 1990's. Time always softens views, but then I have a soft spot for racing games. Most folks do not appreciate Turbo for the Intellivision, but once you learn to control the car, the game can be quite fun.

I have never owned an original GameBoy and can't say why it trounced all the other handhelds. Looking at these videos, leads me to believe it was really good gameplay.

Hmm, strange.Â It says the limit has been reached for embedded videos.Â I'm going to try on another browser to see what happens.

Edit:Â tried on both FF and Chrome.Â Can't see them with either as embedded videos (only the links show).

That's good, OutRun 2019 is a superb game. It's an exclusive game from the classic series for the MD too.
