Title: Any love for the Gamecube? (2grundies GC collection)
Post by: guest5156 on March 21, 2014, 22:38:11 PM

Wow, that is seriously bloody impressive!  :13:

Not a console I have ever paid much attention too but probably will at some point given that I can play GC games on my Wii.

That's the full PAL set. Been picking up a few ntsc-u and j games here and there but only when i see them at a good price. Barring a few titles it was pretty easy to complete, tbh.

Thanks guys.

I don't think i'd attempt another full set collection. I tend to just buy the genres that interest me these days, like rpg's, puzzle games etc but i had so many GC games i thought i may as well go for it. There's not so much chaff on the GC as other systems either. It also has the lowest amount of retail games compared to the other machines of its generation. The toughest titles to find were the country exclusives like the German Shrek smash and crash racing and French Teen Titans. (Don't laugh at Shrek...its a surprisingly good kart racer and very, very pretty)

There's approx 450 solus titles as opposed to around 800 xbox and over 2000 PS2 games. So there's less space considerations too.

I never knew of those exclusives. Need to go and check those out.

I keep seeing GC's with games in my local second shop for £25-35 with a few games, I think its about time I got one again.

I loved some GC versions or exclusives, Burnout was the best version, Luigi's Mansion a hypnotically adictive game and Sonic Adventure 2 rekindled my love for the spiky blue 'hog.

A very very underated and unloved console by many but its a fantastic machine.

Those aren't the only two, there's a few more:

Avatar: Le dernier maître de l'air
Taxi 3: le jeu
Cocoto Funfair
Cocoto Kart Racer
Cocoto Platform Jumper
Franklin: un anniversaire surprise
Ratatouille

There's also a few German 2 in 1 spongebob games  + some Australian 2 in 1's as well (but i don't count those as they're available as solus games in the UK)

There is also an Australian big box version of Pokemon box but its incredibly rare and still eludes me to this day.

Get a modded cube and explore the brilliance of some of the japanese exclusives. great remakes of Adventure island, and Bonk.

plus you can get great sfuff like dreammix TV fighters -  agreat smash bros style game that features the likes of snake ( from metal gear ) master higgins ( adventure island ) megatron and optimus prime, simon belmont, and Bomberman + characters from Gradius, Bloody roar, micronauts etc.
A real hidden gem.

Plus those tiny little jap boxes are lovely looking as well.

Best of all is the GBA player, some amazing games that, if you stick to the 2d ones, look great on a big screen.

an underrated stunner of a console that a lot of people should give a chance.

I own one but I now use the wii, I loved the awesome Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4, for me those two games are two of the best I've ever played, and I'm not a huge Nintendo fan to begin with ;) I also owned eternal darkness but never managed to play it/enjoy it

I knew that collection before looking at the username!

I've probably said it before on RG but again, absolutely stunning. Love all the hardware variants especially the ToS pack and that Spice Orange set-up.

To be fair I am guilty of not really reading this thread correctly, I was on my Xperia Z and the pics didn't load quickly enough for me when I was reading so I just kept scrolling, but now I am at my pc I can see the pics in their full glory and wow, that is a pretty awesome collection. I have a silver gamecube and 2 controllers, about 14 games and a gameboy advance so mine is pretty mini by comparison lol, but yeah it is a nice little console

Splendid collection. GC is close to being my favourite console. Love that orange/spice console...

I have that special edition of Castle Shikigami 2 as well- lovely game. I use a Freeloader to play it and I have noticed when I play it on my PAL Wii I can play it in 480p as my Wii is hooked up via component. Just hold down B when booting the game to activate 480p mode - works with most NTSC GC games.

Cool collection, the Gamecube is one system I need to collect for.  It's actually the system I bought when the DC died in the US, so it has a special significance for me, also.  In particular, the remake of the original Resident Evil on the GC is my favorite game in that series, the tank controls (which I think actually add to the atmosphere and fear factor) are probably why it doesn't get more love.  I am also a huge fan of Monolith Soft, and Baten Kaitos Origins is a hugely underrated game for that consle.

That's an awesome collection you've got there. :) I do think the GameCube is an underrated system, especially considering it had to compete with PS2 sales. Some of the more artistically impressive games of that generation are found on the GameCube, like Super Mario Sunshine and Resident Evil. It's also worth mentioning, from a collector's standpoint at least, that many GameCube games have skyrocketed in value. I'm hoping to build my own collection little by little.

Played Mario Sunshine and got annoyed with it.  Gamecube spent the rest of its days as a Gameboy Advance :p

Sunshine didn't click with me.When I first got it I actually traded it in - first time ever for a Mario game with me. I got it again several years later and liked it better but I still haven't spent any serious amount of time with it.
